Part 6

Review:

We began this series to provide answers to three questions.

1. Have we (earth) ever been visited by extraterrestrials?
2. If so, is there documentation?
3. If documented, did they impart knowledge and/or technology?

Fallen Angels, [Sons of God or the Watchers], Nephilim, Hybrids, DNA, Giants, and the coming cosmic deception.  We are not ignorant of the strategy of evil, Yeshua had us, our family, studying scripture and historical facts as a structured foundation for an empirical review regarding UFOs/UAPs, Unidentified Submerged Objects (USOs), and Alien activity that are in the headlines today.  We will be talking about Majestic 12 and the lengths the government went to cover it up.

From scripture, we verified Angels and the Theophany of Christ appeared on many occasions in the Torah, Prophets (Major and Minor), and New Testament.  We also confirmed they provided knowledge (the Word of God, prophecies, etc.) and technology (building of the temple and relevant furniture and utensils).

  • 70 years later (2017), advanced technology, High Resolution Microfiche Scans.  High Dynamic Range photography has been used to harness the range of tones present with negatives and in particular the “memo.”  The products of HDR imaging have been processed into working files in the form of image stacks where the interaction among layers has been influenced variously to: (1) reduce the visual interference of film grain within the emulsion impinging on the character forms (fonts) separate the tones of the paper base from the fonts used in the memo to suppress background interference and (2) isolate and (‘lift’) tonal values of the fonts away from the background in order to render character forms more clearly.

Hollywood

Gozer is the main antagonist of Ghostbusters.  Known as the destroyer, this demon was originally worshiped as a god by the Hittites, Mesopotamians, and Sumerians around 6000 BC.  Gozer was genderless and could assume any form it wanted.  He/she had two trusted minions – also worshiped as demigods – that were harbingers of destruction and primary agents for its arrival: The Key-master and Zuul, The Gatekeeper.

Close Encounter of the Third Kind

• Josef Allen Hynek (May 1, 1910 – April 27, 1986) was an American astronomer, professor, and ufologist.[1]  He is perhaps best remembered for his UFO research.   Hynek acted as scientific advisor to UFO studies undertaken by the U.S. Air Force under three projects: Project Sign (1947–1949), Project Grudge (1949–1951), and Project Blue Book (1952–1969).
• Captain Edward James Ruppelt (July 17, 1923 – September 15, 1960) was a United States Air Force officer probably best known for his involvement in Project Blue Book, a formal governmental study of unidentified flying objects (UFOs).  He is generally credited with coining the term “unidentified flying object,” to replace the terms “flying saucer” and “flying disk” – which had become widely known – because the military thought them to be “misleading when applied to objects of every conceivable shape and performance.”

Captain Ruppelt was the director of Project Grudge from late 1951 until it became Project Blue Book in March 1952; he remained with Blue Book until late 1953.  UFO researcher Jerome Clark writes, “Most observers of Blue Book agree that the Ruppelt years comprised the project’s golden age when investigations were most capably directed and conducted.  He was open-minded about UFOs, and his investigators were not known, as Grudge’s were, for force-fitting explanations on cases.”

Before Project Blue Book, there was Project Sign, prompted by a rash of UFO sightings in 1947, including what’s come to be considered the first major sighting of the modern era, when pilot Kenneth Arnold spotted nine objects flying in formation over Mt. Rainier in Washington state, which he calculated were traveling three times faster than any known manned aircraft.  The idea of aliens visiting in “flying saucers” came from Arnold’s description of the objects in flight.  “They flew erratic, like a saucer if you skip it across the water,” he told the East Oregonian.

Majestic 12: An agency formed by the President to study UFOs.  Once leaked to the public, the government implemented a scheme to discredit the authenticity and existence of the agency.  Disinformation Operation.

The Vatican

The Vatican Observatory Research Group (VORG) working with the Vatican Advanced Technology Telescope (VATT) in Arizona.

Quoting from an article “…where we [Dr. Tom Horn and Chris Putnam (died in 2017, 52 yrs. old)] spent most of the day with a systems engineer who not only took us to all seven levels of that mighty machine – pointing out the LUCIFER device and what it is used for [lovingly referred to as “Lucy” or simply “Lucifer”].  We were stunned as we sat in the control room listening to him and the astronomers speak so casually of the redundancy with which UFOs are captured on screens darting through the heavens.”

He even sent us a copy of a private PDF of what Consolmago and the Vatican are considering regarding the ramifications of astrobiology and specifically the discovery of advanced extraterrestrials.  Quoting from the PDF, in which he admits how contemporary societies will soon “look to The Aliens to be the Saviors of humankind.”  To illustrate the theological soundness of this possibility, Consolmago argues that humans are not the only intelligent beings God created in the universe, and, he says, these non-human lifeforms are described in the Bible.  He starts by pointing to angels then surprises us by actually referencing the Nephilim.

Following the private and extraordinary tour by Jesuit Priests, the two revealed alien and UFO connections:

• Vatican’s search for extraterrestrial life goes back centuries.
• The Vatican owns the most powerful telescope in the world. It’s at the Mount Graham Int’l Observatory in Arizona, where Vatican astronomers observe ‘deep space.’ Attached to that telescope is an infrared camera oddly called LUCIFER UFO research confirms that infrared light allows us to see objects typically invisible to the naked eye.
• Several ancient traditions, such as Mayan, Aztec, Cherokee, and Jewish (Cabbala), point to the period of 2012-2016 as the beginning of the “end of times.”
• The authors cite a 900-year-old prophecy by “Saint Malachy Morgair” who allegedly had a vision of all 112 Popes, from the first to the very last, the one who will witness the Final Judgment.  He wrote down 112 short Latin phrases describing each one.  According to the authors, the description of the last Pope on the list, “Petrus Romanus” – Peter the Roman, matches Pope Francis.
• Vatican libraries contain files confirming extraterrestrial activity on Earth.
• Vatican theologians consider the possibility that Jesus was a ‘star child,’ and the immaculate conception was one of the earliest documented cases of alien abduction/visitation.  Thus, the Second Coming of Christ is expected to confirm that Jesus was an extraterrestrial or a human-alien hybrid.
• Preparations for an alien ‘god’ are well on the way.  The Church plans to reassure the faithful that the new ET reality doesn’t negate the word of the Bible and Jesus Christ as the son of God.  The Catholic Church will embrace the new ‘savior’ and encourage religious people everywhere to do the same.

In 2012, authors Dr. Tom Horn and Chris Putnam correctly predicted that Benedict XVI [16^th] would resign [Abdicate as the Vicar of Christ] as Pope in 2012.  Eleven months later, on February 10, 2013, Pope Benedict XVI issued the stunning declaration that he intended to resign from his post as head of the Catholic Church at the end of the month.  The move was virtually unprecedented, as every Church head since Gregory XII [12^th], in the early 15th century, had fulfilled his papal duties until death [1,058 years].

However, they warn that the Vatican’s unusual fixation on the search for extraterrestrial life and secret preparations for the arrival of a cosmic savior has “dangerous and deceptive end-times ramifications” as the last Pope (“Petrus Romanus,” presumably Pope Francis) will assist the rise of the global authority referred to as the Antichrist in the Bible.  Dr. Horn was given unprecedented cooperation from the extremely secretive Jesuits, which included a guided tour of Mount Graham at the University of Arizona.  A question that remains open: why would the Jesuits allow him such exclusive access to their Lucifer telescope facility?  Maybe because he is a Jesuit?

Sons of God

Jewish Scholars: ‘IRIN-QADESHIN [Angelic Rank]

The plural, compound Chaldee word ‘IRIN-QADESHIN means Watchers, Holy Ones, or Holy Watchers.

Many Rabbinic scholars consider ‘Irin-Qadeshin constitutes the Great Sanhedrin of Heaven the Judges of the Jews, Gentiles, and Israel’s kingdom [and possibly the 24 Elders who sit on 24 thrones around the Throne].

The Book of Enoch:

The Discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls

In early 1946, in the region now known as the West Bank, a group of Bedouin teenagers were tending to their sheep and goats near the ancient settlement of Qumran.  To pass the time, they threw rocks into the dark expanse of a cave.  To their surprise, they heard a loud shattering noise echoing from within.  Exploring the cave they found a collection of large clay jars containing a series of ancient scrolls [800 to 900 manuscripts] that we know today as the Dead Sea Scrolls.

Among these manuscripts were large portions of a mysterious non-canonical religious text which had long been forgotten.  It was called the Book of Enoch.  In its entirety, The Book of Enoch is made up of five books: The Book of Watchers, Book of Parables, The Astronomical Book, The Dream Visions, and The Epistles of Enoch containing some 100 chapters.

At the very least, we can view The Book of Enoch from a scholarly standpoint relative to the writing style, vernacular, and culture at the time.

Enoch 6:3,5-6 “3 And Samyaza, their chief, said to them, “I fear that you will not want to do this deed, and I alone shall be guilty of a great sin. 5 Then they all swore together and bound one another with a curse. 6 And they were, all of them, two hundred, who descended in the days of Jared onto the peak of Mount Hermon.”

The Deed and Its Results

Enoch 7:1-6 “1 These and all the others with them took for themselves wives from among them such as they chose. And they began to go in to them, and to defile themselves through them, and to teach them sorcery and charms, and to reveal to them the cutting of roots and plants. 2 And they conceived from them and bore to them great giants. And the giants begot Nephilim, and to the Nephilim were born Elioud. And they were growing in accordance with their greatness. 3 They were devouring the labor of all the sons of men, And men were not able to supply them. 4 And the giants began to kill men and to devour them. 5 And they began to sin against the birds and beasts and creeping things and the fish, and to devour one another’s flesh. And they drank the blood. 6 Then the earth brought accusations against the lawless ones.”

• Elioud: In the Book of Enoch and Book of Jubilees, copies of which were kept by groups including the religious community of Qumran that produced the Dead Sea Scrolls, the Elioud are the antediluvian children of the Nephilim, and are considered a part-angel hybrid race of their own.  Like the Nephilim, the Elioud are exceptional in both ability and wickedness. The Secrets the Watchers Reveal [Eight times the verses mention the word taught]

Enoch 8:1-4 “1 Asael taught men to make swords of iron and weapons and shields and breastplates and every instrument of war. He showed them metals of the earth and how they should work gold to fashion it suitably, and concerning silver, to fashion it for bracelets and ornaments for women. And he showed them concerning antimony and eye paint and all manner of precious stones and dyes. And the sons of men made them for themselves and their daughters, and they transgressed and led the holy ones astray. 2 And there was much godlessness on the earth, and they made their ways desolate. 3 Shemihazah taught spells and the cutting of roots. Hermani taught sorcery for the loosing of spells and magic and skill. Baraqel taught the signs of lightning flashes. Kokabel taught the signs of the stars. Evil spirits will be on the earth, and evil spirits they will be called. 10 The spirits of heaven, in heaven is their dwelling; but the spirits begotten on the earth, on the earth is their dwelling. 11 And the spirits of the giants [Nephilim], do violence, make desolate, and attack and wrestle and hurl upon the earth and they eat nothing, but abstain from food and are thirsty and smite. 12 These spirits (will) rise up against the sons of men and against the women, for they have come forth from them.”

Mark 5:1–20 The Gadarene demoniac

This encounter between Yeshua and this demon-possessed individual teaches us about the characteristics of one who is tormented or even possessed by an evil, unclean spirit.  More than 15 signs, symptoms, or attributes of evil spirits were covered.

Book of Jubilees Chapter 10

The Book of Jubilees, sometimes called the “Lesser Genesis,” “Little Genesis,” or “The Testament of Moses,” is a pseudepigraphical work of Jewish apocalyptic literature.  It was probably written in the second century [BC 135] by an Essene member of the Qumran community who copied and preserved the Dead Sea Scrolls. 

The Book of Jubilees

Jubilees 10:1-7 “1 And in the third week of this jubilee the unclean demons began to lead astray the children of the sons of Noah, and to make to err and destroy them. 2 And the sons of Noah came to Noah their father, and they told him concerning the demons which were leading astray and blinding and slaying his sons’ sons. 5 And Thou knows how Thy Watchers, the fathers of these spirits, acted in my day: and as for these spirits which are living, imprison them and hold them fast in the place of condemnation, and let them not bring destruction on the sons of thy servant, my God; for these are malignant, and created in order to destroy. 7 And the Lord our God bade us [Archangels] to bind all.”

Jubilees 10:8-14 “8 And the chief of the spirits, Mastêmâ [definition below], came and said: ‘Lord, Creator, let some of them remain before me, and let them harken to my voice, and do all that I shall say unto them; for if some of them are not left to me, I shall not be able to execute the power of my will on the sons of men for these are for corruption and leading astray before my judgment, for great is the wickedness of the sons of men.’ 9 And He said: Let the tenth part of them remain before him and let nine parts descend into the place of condemnation.’ 10 And one of us He commanded that we should teach Noah all their medicines; for He knew that they would not walk in uprightness, nor strive in righteousness. 11 And we did according to all His words: all the malignant evil ones we bound in the place of condemnation and a tenth part of them we left that they might be subject before Satan on the earth. 12 And we explained to Noah all the medicines of their diseases, together with their seductions, how he might heal them with herbs of the earth. 13 And Noah wrote down all things in a book as we instructed him concerning every kind of medicine. Thus, the evil spirits were precluded from (hurting) the sons of Noah. 14 And he gave all that he had written to Shem, his eldest son; for he loved him exceedingly above all his sons.”

According to the Book of Jubilees, Mastema (“hostility”) is the chief of the Nephilim, the demons engendered by the fallen angels called Watchers with human women.

When God is ready to destroy all the demons after the flood Mastema intervenes, beseeching God to allow him to retain and control one-tenth of the demons to exercise his authority because they are “intended to corrupt and lead astray before my judgment because the evil of the sons of men is great”. (Jubilees 10:8) Mastema is the tester of humans, with God’s permission.

Mastema/Beliar

Beliar [a fallen angel] is mentioned twice in Jubilees and many associate him with Mastema.

2 Corinthians 6:14-16 “14 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? 15 And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? 16 And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.” 

• Belial [G 955]: Lord over forests and deserts.  Worthlessness, wickedness – Satan in 2 Corinthians 6:15. From word studies: Belial, an appellation [title] of Satan which stresses his deep-seated wickedness – “the one who is utterly worthless because of vile.”

Demonic Entities/Dragons

Isaiah 13:19-22 “19 And Babylon, the glory of kingdoms, the beauty of the Chaldees’ excellency, shall be as when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah. 21 But wild beasts of the desert [H 6703: crier, yelper] shall lie there; and their houses shall be full of doleful creatures [H 255: howler]; and owls [H 3282: daughters of the owl] shall dwell there, and satyrs [H 8163: demon possessed goat like the swine at Gadara – Matthew 8:30-32] shall dance there. 22 And the wild beasts [H 388: howling (3x)] of the islands shall cry in their desolate houses, and dragons [H 8577: dinosaur, serpent, venomous snake] in their pleasant palaces: and her time is near to come, and her days shall not be prolonged.”

Job 30:26-29 “29 I am a brother to dragons and a companion to owls.”

Psalm 91:9-13 “13 Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder [H 6620: venomous snakes of the viper family]: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet.”

Isaiah 27:1 “In that day the Lord with his sore and great and strong sword shall punish leviathan the piercing serpent, even leviathan that crooked serpent; and he shall slay the dragon that is in the sea.”

Jeremiah 51:37 “Nebuchadnezzar King of Babylon hath swallowed me like a dragon.”

Ezekiel 29:3 “Pharaoh King of Egypt, the great dragon that lieth in the midst of rivers.”

Revelation 9:13-15 “13 And the sixth angel sounded, and I heard a voice from the four horns of the golden altar, which is before God, 14 Saying to the sixth angel which had the trumpet, Loose the four angels which are bound in the great river Euphrates. 15 And the four angels were loosed, which were prepared for an hour, and a day, and a month, and a year, for to slay the third part of men.”

New Testament Tests: Mastema/Belial/Satan

At the Last Supper, Jesus warned Simon Peter that a test of faith was coming: “Simon, Simon! Indeed, Satan has asked for you, that he may sift you as wheat” (Luke 22:31).  The outspoken disciple seemed to be in the same predicament as Job when Satan sought to put him to the test (Job 1—2).  Satan wanted to “sift Peter as wheat,” which means that he wished to shake Peter’s faith so forcefully that he would fall, proving that God’s faithful servant was lacking.

It was not just Peter who was in danger, though.  The word for “you” in Luke 22:31 is plural.  Jesus was speaking to Peter, informing him that Satan had his sights set on all the disciples.  Some translations, such as the Berean Study Bible, specify the whole group: “Simon, Simon, Satan has asked to sift each of you like wheat.”

Giants 

 

Before the Flood

• Noah’s Flood: The Drowning of Billions

Different than the conservative estimate of some scholars of 170 million and others of 3 to 5 billion.

If the population growth rate in the pre-Flood world in the years between 1 CE – 2348 was “equal to the growth rate in 2000, there could have been more than 1 billion people at the time of the Flood.”  But “given the extremely long lifespans before the Flood, the growth rate could have been much higher,” and thus the population could have been “close to four billion at the Flood.”

• A Methodology for Determining the Earth’s Population Before the Flood

To begin our investigation in earnest, we will use the genealogy of Genesis 5 to calculate how much time passed from creation until the flood.  In doing so we arrive at 1,656 years (there may also be room in the genealogies for additional years, but we will use 1,656 years for a baseline).

How many people could have been born in 1,656 years?  If we simply use the population growth percentage of 1.13% in 2016 that would give us a population of around 241 million at the time of Noah.

However, given the fact that the average age was much higher, and environmental conditions were much more stable and conducive to life, it seems that a higher rate of population growth would be expected.  If we increase the rate even by the tiniest amount (from 1.13% to 1.30%) we would arrive at a population of around 3.9 billion.  However, it is much more likely that the population increase would have been far greater than this [122 billion].

Concluding Thoughts on Earth’s Pre-flood Population

Given the longer lifespans of pre-flood life (e.g., Adam 930 yrs., Jared 962 yrs., etc.), as well as the optimal living conditions, we should expect a faster population growth rate than we currently have today.

Considering that man was inherently bent on evil it is beyond doubt that there was much violence, war, and murder which impacted or slowed population growth.  Thus, the actual number may be well below 122 billion.

However, given the above information, it is reasonable that the pre-flood world had a population that may have exceeded the current day.  Perhaps even greatly so.  (Source)

Conservative estimates of original from the time of the Nephilim and reproduction of Giants for 669 years the population would have been at least 500 million (40% of total years: 1,656).  However, the overall population would have exceeded at least 750 million and more than likely much more than that.

Flavius Josephus

No source, other than the Bible itself, provides more relevant information on the first century than the work of Flavius Josephus. Josephus was born around 37 A.D.  Though he led a Jewish revolt in the time of Nero, he later befriended the Romans, moving and living in Rome.  He was branded a traitor by his countrymen.  His account of The Fall of Jerusalem depicts what it was like for the Israelites as Rome sacked Jerusalem and destroyed the Temple.

Josephus also prescribed the theory of the Nephilim as fallen angels.  This is clearly stated in Josephus’s Antiquities of the Jews.  Josephus, unknowingly, also attacked the theory which supposes the “sons of God” were descendants of Seth.  In chapter 3 of The Antiquities Josephus talks of the sons of Seth.

• He praises Seth himself in chapter 3 saying; “Now this posterity of Seth continued to esteem God.”  Nevertheless, Josephus goes on to talk of Seth’s descendants straying from the path of their forefathers. “…but in process of time, they were perverted and forsook the practices of their forefathers and did neither pay those honors to God which had appointed them nor had they any concern to do justice towards men.”  Immediately after his depiction of the degradation of Seth’s line, Josephus talks about the incident in Genesis.

Benei Elohim, the Watchers, and the Origins of Evil

“For many angels of God coupled with women, and begat sons that proved unjust, and despisers of all that was good, on account of the confidence they had in their own strength; for the tradition is, that these men did what resembled the acts of those whom the Grecians call giants.”  A fascinating comparison is made in this passage to the Greek gods.  Josephus states the Nephilim performed acts that were equivalent to the acts associated with the gods of Greek mythology.

The obvious question raises a very interesting scenario.  Were the Greek gods of Greek mythology founded upon the behavior of those Nephilim who had found their way to ancient Greece in the days of Noah?  Josephus also believed the Nephilim were remarkably powerful, and intelligent, and that they provided a historical basis for the Greek mythological belief system.

• By all accounts of the Nephilim, they indeed possessed almost magical powers.  They were extremely powerful and very influential.
• The Nephilim ruled over man, whilst dwelling among them.  They took human women and did what they pleased.
• The Nephilim are strikingly similar to the Greek mythological gods and seem to provide a foundation upon which such myths may be built.

Josephus pictures Noah standing up to the Nephilim and people of his day urging them to change their ways and pursue God.  However, he states they did not heed his preaching’s and Noah eventually fled the land with his family in fear for his life.  Perhaps it was during this exiled period that Noah built the ark.  In any case, Flavius Josephus makes his stance clear on the subject.  The writings of Josephus were also in line with the prevailing opinions of ancient Israel.  The opinion was, the “sons of God” in Genesis were, in fact, fallen angels.  The offspring they produced, the Nephilim, were of such a wicked nature, all of mankind was corrupted by them.

From Rabbinic study and early teachings, the sages believed the Sons of God were part of the fallen angels or watchers and committed three primary sins:

• Forbidden Knowledge: Mating and Reproducing with Women (Earthly).
• Forbidden Knowledge: Asael taught men how to make swords, daggers, shields, and breastplates.
• Forbidden Knowledge: Magic and other heavenly mysteries.

In this early belief, collaborating Enoch’s account, the giants themselves are killed.  Their spirits, however, deriving from immortal heavenly beings (the angels), cannot be destroyed completely, but also cannot return to heaven.  They remain connected to earth as evil spirits, wreaking havoc among humankind and causing both physical evil (such as disease) and moral evil (sin):

• Enoch 7:8-12 “8 And now the giants who were born from spirits and flesh will be called evil spirits upon the earth, and on the earth will be their dwelling. 9 And evil spirits came out from their flesh because from above they were created; from the holy Watchers was their origin and first foundation. Evil spirits they will be on the earth, and spirits of the evil ones they will be called. 10 And the dwelling of the spirits of heaven is in heaven, but the dwelling of the spirits of earth, who were born on the earth, [is] on earth. 11 And the spirits of the giants . . . which do wrong and are corrupt, and attack and fight and break on the earth, and cause sorrow; and they eat no food and do not thirst and are not observed. 12 And these spirits will rise against the sons of men and against the women because they came out [from them].”

As we reviewed, this early belief is developed further in the Book of Jubilees and is reflected in Qumran prayer and incantations that deride the “bastards,” that is, the evil spirits who are the result of the illicit union of angels and human women.

The texts are rather fragmentary, and the reconstruction in many places is uncertain, but they are quite helpful in characterizing the contents and function of the hymns.  Most of them give the impression of ordinary, rather dull hymns.  However, they appear to have had the rather surprising function of being recited as a protection against evil spirits.  Some of the sentences which testify to this function are recited several times by a Sage.

Testament of Amran

Amram is the husband of Jochebed and the father of Aaron, Moses, and Miriam.  [Exodus 6:20] Scholars believe the Visions fall under the testament genre because of the multiple similarities with the Testament of Levi.  They compared the introductory narrative of the Visions of Amram with the introductory sections of the Testaments of the 12 Patriarchs, most specifically the Testament of Levi.

One of the Dead Sea Scrolls (4Q544, Manuscript B) is written from Amram’s point of view and hence has been dubbed the Visions of Amram.  The document is dated to the 2nd century BC and, in the form of a vision, briefly discusses dualism and the Watchers:

After The Flood

Numbers 13:1-2, and 33 “1 And the Lord spoke unto Moses, saying, 2 Send thou men, that they may search the land of Canaan, which I give unto the children of Israel: of every tribe of their fathers shall ye send a man, everyone a ruler among them.” “33 And there we saw the giants Nephilim, the sons of Anak, which come of the giants Nephilim, and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers [H 2284: Locus], and so we were in their sight.” [KJV]

• Giants [5303] (2x): the Nephilim.

Jericho

Joshua 6:2 “And the Lord said unto Joshua, See, I have given into thy hand Jericho, and the king thereof, and the mighty men of valor.” [H 1368: Gibborim]

These walls were structured on a three-tiered plan.  The walls started with an earthen rampart, or embankment, which ran from ground level upwards on an incline to a stone retaining wall – the second tier.  The stone retaining wall stood 12 to 15 feet in height on top of the earthen embankment.

On top of the stone retaining wall stood another wall made of mud bricks, 6 feet thick, and 20 to 26 feet high.  Together these two walls combined to form a fortification 32 to 41 feet high.

On the other side of the double wall, the embankment continued to climb upwards.  The third tier was at the very top of the embankment, where yet another mud-brick wall stood.  At their base, the walls of Jericho stood 46 feet [or a little more than 4 stories high] above ground level outside the retaining wall.  To the Israelites and other nations, Jericho seemed impenetrable.

Giants By Tribe or Name

Following the flood, the Nephilim, and giants throughout the land of conquest that was promised to Abraham and his descendants as an inheritance: Rephaim, Zamzummim, Emim, Amorite, Anakim, and Zuzim.  Giants were called by many names, sometimes by the name of the lands they occupied, and other times by their reputation.

Rephaim [H 7497]: Old Tribe of giants.  [After death: H 7495/7496 below] Shades as in the underworld.

Zamzummims [H 2157 (1x)]: Ammonite name for Rephaim and others called Zuzim.

Zuzims [H 2104 (1x)]: roving creatures – an Aboriginal tribe of Palestine.

Emims [H 368 (3x)]: Terrors, ancient inhabitants of Moab.  Terror spirits caused their worshipers.

Amorite [H 567]: perhaps mountain dwellers.

They are named in the list of Canaanitish peoples, to be dispossessed by Israel: Exodus 3:8, 17; Exodus 13:5; Exodus 33:2; Exodus 34:11; Deuteronomy 2:10-11, 20-21, Joshua 3:10; and Joshua 9:1.

The Amorites of the Bible are depicted as pre-Israelite inhabitants of the land of Canaan and separate from the Israelites.  In the Book of Deuteronomy, they are described as the last remnants of the giants who once lived on earth:

• Deuteronomy 3:8-11 “8 And we took at that time out of the hand of the two kings of the Amorites the land that was on this side Jordan, from the river of Arnon unto mount Hermon; 9 (Which Hermon the Sidonians call Sirion; and the Amorites call it Shenir;) 10 All the cities of the plain, and all Gilead, and all Bashan, unto Salchah and Edrei, cities of the kingdom of Og in Bashan. 11 For only Og king of Bashan remained of the remnant of giants; behold his bedstead was a bedstead of iron; is it not in Rabbath of the children of Ammon? nine cubits were the length thereof, and four cubits the breadth of it, after the cubit of a man.”

Quick Note on Bulls of Bashan and Suffering of our Messiah:

Psalm 22:12 “Many bulls [H 6499: figurative of fierce enemies] have compassed me: strong bulls of Bashan have beset me round.” [H 1060: encircle, surround] The Fallen Host as in 2 Kings 16:17.  Elisha with the Host of Heaven.

Actual bulls were not surrounding our Messiah [anointed one].  Principalities, powers, authorities, and evil spirits are mentioned in Ephesians 6:12.

Anakim [H 6062]: “Long neck” giants.  Descendants of Anak.

• Deuteronomy 3:3 “So the Lord our God delivered into our hands Og [H 5747: Long necked] also, the king of Bashan, and all his people: and we smote him until none was left to him remaining.”

Several scholars argue that Bashan itself, Og’s kingdom, is a reference to the underworld.  The name Bashan likely derives from the proto-Semitic root ב.ת.נ.  One meaning of this root, found in the Ugaritic term btn, is “serpent” or “dragon,” mentioned in several mythological texts and the Old Testament. 

Og the Defender of Graves (Byblos 13)

Another support for Og’s connection to the underworld, noted by some scholars, is a fifth century B.C.E. Phoenician tomb inscription (Byblos 13), published by Professor Wolfgang Röllig of the University of Tübingen.  Here Og appears as a Phoenician deity and the protector of tombs:

The rabbinic exegesis embellishes the description of Og’s height [Between 13 ½ to 18 ft.], depicting him as large enough to uproot a mountain (b. Berakhot 54b).

Rephaim: Spirits of Giants that will not Rise.

Goliath [and four other giants] 

Although the Bible never uses the term Nephilim to describe him, Goliath is the most infamous.

1 Samuel 17:3-11 “3 And the Philistines stood on a mountain on the one side, and Israel stood on a mountain on the other side: and there was a valley between them. 4 And there went out a champion out of the camp of the Philistines, named Goliath, of Gath, whose height was 9 ft. 9 inches. 5 And he had a helmet of brass [30 lbs.] upon his head, and he was armed with a coat of mail, and the weight of the coat was 125 lbs. of brass. 6 And he had greaves of brass upon his legs, and a target of brass between his shoulders. 7 And the staff of his spear was like a weaver’s beam [12 ft. 7 inches]; and his spear’s head weighed 33 lbs. of iron: [Goliath’s sword weighed 15 lbs. compared to most in the ear that weighed 2.5 lbs.] and one bearing a shield went before him. 8 And he stood and cried unto the armies of Israel, and said unto them, Why are ye come out to set your battle in array? am not I a Philistine, and ye servants to Saul? choose you a man for you and let him come down to me. 9 If he is able to fight with me, and to kill me, then will we be your servants: but if I prevail against him, and kill him, then shall ye be our servants, and serve us. 10 And the Philistine said, I defy the armies of Israel this day; give me a man, that we may fight together. 11 When Saul and all Israel heard those words of the Philistine, they were dismayed and greatly afraid.”

2 Samuel 21:16-22 “16 And Ishbibenob, which was of the sons of the giant, the weight of whose spear weighed 7.5 lbs. of brass in weight, being girded with a new sword, thought to have slain David. 17 But Abishai the son of Zeruiah assisted him, and smote the Philistine, and killed him. Then the men of David swore unto him, saying, Thou shalt go no more out with us to battle, that thou quench not the light of Israel. 18 And it came to pass after this, that there was again a battle with the Philistines at Gob: then Sibbechai the Hushathite slew Saph, which was of the sons of the giant. 19 And there was again a battle in Gob with the Philistines, where Elhanan the son of Jaareoregim, a Bethlehemite, slew the brother of Goliath the Gittite [one of 5 major Philistine city-states], the staff of whose spear was like a weaver’s beam. 20 And there was yet a battle in Gath, where was a man of great stature, that had on every hand six fingers, and on every foot six toes, four and twenty in number; and he also was born to the giant. 21 And when he defied Israel, Jonathan the son of Shimeah the brother of David slew him. 22 These four were born to the giant in Gath and fell by the hand of David, and by the hand of his servants.”

Genocide – Destroy Tribes in the Allotted Land

1 Samuel 15:1-3 “1 Samuel also said unto Saul, The Lord sent me to anoint thee to be king over his people, over Israel: now, therefore, hearken thou unto the voice of the words of the Lord. 2 Thus saith the Lord of hosts, I remember that which Amalek did to Israel, how he laid wait for him in the way, when he came up from Egypt. 3 Now go and smite Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and spare them not; but slay both man and woman, infant and suckling, ox and sheep, camel, and ass.”

• 1 Samuel 15:9-11 “9 But Saul and the people spared Agag, and the best of the sheep, and the oxen, and of the fatlings, and the lambs, and all that was good, and would not utterly destroy them: but everything that was vile and refuse, that they destroyed utterly. 10 Then came the word of the Lord unto Samuel, saying, 11 It repented me that I have set up Saul to be king: for he is turned back from following me, and hath not performed my commandments. And it grieved Samuel, and he cried unto the Lord all night.”

A DNA Problem

As we covered the nations above, and the legacy of giants who often had aberrations in physical appearance and strength, the issue of the Nephilim once again is indicated in Biblical accounts.  God ordered similar directives when the Israelites were invading the promised land.

Without belaboring the point, and as God [Father, Son, and Holy Spirit] revealed His Glory to Moses:

Exodus 33:5-7 “5 And the Lord descended in the cloud, and stood with him there, and proclaimed the name of the Lord. 6 And the Lord passed by before him and proclaimed, ‘The Lord, The Lord God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth, 7 Keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and that will by no means clear the guilty; visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and the children’s children, unto the third and to the fourth generation.’”

Our God is omnipotent [all-powerful], omnipresent [divine presence, everywhere at once], and omniscient [all-knowing].  Therein we know that God knows the future and what the results would be if Israel did not follow every detail of his instructions.

• Saul claimed to have killed everyone but the Amalekite king Agag (1 Samuel 15:20).  Obviously, Saul was lying—just a couple of decades later, there were enough Amalekites to take David and his men’s family captive (1 Samuel 30:1-2).  After David and his men attacked the Amalekites and rescued their families, 400 Amalekites escaped.  If Saul had fulfilled what God had commanded him, this never would have occurred.
• Several hundred years later, a descendant of Agag, Haman, tried to have the entire Jewish people exterminated (the Book of Esther).  So, Saul’s incomplete obedience almost resulted in Israel’s destruction.  God knew this would occur, so He ordered the extermination of the Amalekites ahead of time.

Deuteronomy 20:16-18 “16 But of the cities of these people, which the Lord thy God doth give thee for an inheritance, thou shalt save alive nothing that breathes. 17 But thou shalt utterly destroy them; namely, the Hittites, and the Amorites, the Canaanites, and the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites; as the Lord thy God hath commanded thee: 18 That they teach you not to do after all their abominations, which they have done unto their gods; so, should ye sin against the Lord your God.”

Deuteronomy 20:16-18 “16 Regarding the Canaanites, God commanded, “In the cities of the nations the LORD your God is giving you as an inheritance, do not leave alive anything that breathes. 17 Completely destroy them — the Hittites, Amorites, Canaanites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites — as the LORD your God has commanded you. 18 Otherwise, they will teach you to follow all the detestable things they do in worshiping their gods, and you will sin against the LORD your God.”

The Israelites failed in this mission as well, and exactly what God said would happen occurred (Judges 2:1-3; 1 Kings 11:5; 14:24; 2 Kings 16:3-4).  God did not order the extermination of these people to be cruel, but to prevent an even greater evil from occurring in the future.

Understanding and applying passages from the exodus and conquest of Canaan is very emotional as a parent and challenging from a terrestrial, mortal perspective.  The passages about putting certain inhabitants to death are among the most difficult.  Among those is Numbers 31.

God told Moses, “Take vengeance on the Midianites for the Israelites” (Numbers 31:1).  The Israelites obediently armed themselves and attacked the Midianites, killing the men (verse 7).  Also, “the Israelites captured the Midianite women and children and took all the Midianite herds, flocks and goods as plunder” (verse 9).  When the troops returned to Moses, he was angry that they had not fully carried out the Lord’s vengeance (verse 14).  The Midianite women were those who had caused Israel to sin at Baal Peor (Numbers 25).  So, Moses commanded that the women be killed, and also “kill all the boys” (Numbers 31:17).

Quickly, two perspectives from bible scholars:

• During the timeframe in question, tribal warfare was rampant.  It was highly likely that the male Midianite children would grow up and seek revenge for their fathers and grandfathers against Israel.  Avenging the death of one’s father is a commonly accepted necessity in every culture and even in popular fiction—it’s what motivates Hamlet in Shakespeare’s classic play and what energizes Inigo Montoya in The Princess Bride.
• The utterly disgusting depravity in which these Midianite boys had been raised is well documented.  Regular behaviors among the Midianites included child sacrifice, cult prostitution, and bestiality.  The divine prohibition of these acts was codified, and the acts were known to the Israelites (Leviticus 18:21, 23–24).  Male inhabitants carrying on the lineage of this culture would have been a perennial problem for Israel.

Early Accounts [Wikipedia]

The Patagones or Patagonian giants were a race of giant humans rumored to be living in Patagonia and described in early European accounts.  They were said to have exceeded at least double normal human height, with some accounts giving heights of 13 to 15 feet or more.  Tales of these people would maintain a hold upon European conceptions of the region for nearly 300 years.

The first mention of these people came from the voyage of Ferdinand Magellan and his crew, who claimed to have seen them while exploring the coastline of South America in the 1520s.  Antonio Pigafetta, one of the expedition’s few survivors and the chronicler of Magellan’s expedition, wrote in his account about their encounter with natives twice a normal person’s height:

• One day we suddenly saw a naked man of giant stature on the shore of the port, dancing, singing, and throwing dust on his head.  The captain-general [i.e., Magellan] sent one of our men to the giant so that he might perform the same actions as a sign of peace.  Having done that, the man led the giant to an isle where the captain-general was waiting.  When the giant was in our presence he marveled greatly and made signs with one finger raised upward, believing that we had come from the sky.  He was so tall that we reached only to his waist, and he was well proportioned.

There were further reports of similar Patagonian sightings:

• In 1579, Francis Drake’s ship chaplain, Francis Fletcher
• In the 1590s, Anthony Knivet claimed he had seen dead bodies 12 feet long in Patagonia.
• In the 1590s, William Adams, an Englishman aboard a Netherlander reported a violent encounter between his ship’s crew and unnaturally tall natives.
• In 1598 Dutch sailors Sebald de Weert, Olivier van Noort in 1599, and Joris van Spilbergen in 1615 claimed that giants were living in Patagonia.

American History

Across the United States, there are burial mounds, or at least their remnants, some as extensive in size as the Great Pyramid of Giza.  The Cahokia and Monk’s mounds in Illinois and Missouri are two thought to have been built before the arrival of Columbus.  There are more than 300 newspaper articles dating back to the 1800s and early 1900s on discoveries of burial sites of giants ranging from 8 ft to 12 ft tall.

The tradition from the elders of the Choctaw nation told of a race of giants that once inhabited the now State of Tennessee, and with whom their ancestors fought when they arrived in Mississippi in their migration from the west, doubtless Old Mexico.  Their tradition states the Nahullo (race of giants: literally, wizards) was of wonderful stature; but, as their tradition of the mastodon [PowerPoint found on the Great Plains], so this was also considered to be but a foolish fable, the creature of a wild imagination until the exhumed bones verified the Choctaws’ tradition.

A story was told by the Comanches in 1857:

Innumerable moons ago, a race of white men, ten feet high, and far more rich and powerful than any white people now living, here inhabited an enormous range of country, extending from the rising to the setting sun. Their fortifications crowned the summits of the mountains, protecting their populous cities situated in the intervening valleys. They excelled every other nation which was flourished, either before or since, in all manner of cunning handicraft—were brave and warlike—ruling over the land they had wrested from its ancient possessors with a high and haughty hand. Compared with them the palefaces of the present day were pygmies, in both art and arms. They drove the Indians from their homes, putting them to the sword, and occupying the valleys in which their fathers had dwelt before them since the world began. At length, in the height of their power and glory, when they remembered justice and mercy no more and became proud and lifted up, the Great Spirit descended from above, sweeping them with fire and deluge from the face of the earth. The mounds we [Chief Rolling Thunder and his Spanish listener] had seen on the tablelands were the remnants of their fortresses, and the crumbling ruins that surrounded us all that remained of a mighty city.  (Source

Burial Mounds

In the 1880s, the Eastern Mound Division of the Smithsonian discovered many gigantic skeletons in North America.  The 12th Annual Report of the Bureau of Ethnology documents numerous gigantic skeletons found by Smithsonian agents:

Ohio: “Near the original surface (of the mound)… lying at full length upon its back, was one of the largest skeletons discovered by the Bureau agents, the length as proved by actual measurement being between 7 and 8 feet.  In the center (of mound 11), 3 feet below the surface, was a vault 8 feet long and 3 feet wide.  At the bottom of this…lay a skeleton fully 7 feet long.  The length from the base of the skull to the bones of the toes was found to be 7 feet 3 inches.  It is probable, therefore, that this individual when living was 7.5 feet high.”

Another in Texas: a burial mound was discovered in 1880 near Plano, TX consisting of human bones “of enormous size…the femoral bones being five inches longer than the ordinary length, and the jaw bones so large as to slip over the face of a man with ease.”

“While we were in the sand hills, scouting the Niobrara country, the Pawnee Indians brought into camp, one night, some very large bones, one of which a surgeon of the expedition pronounced to be the thighbone of a human being.  The Indians claimed that the bones they had found were those of a person belonging to a race of people who a long time ago lived in this country.  That there was once a race of men on the earth whose size was about three times that of an ordinary man, and they were so swift and powerful that they could run alongside of a buffalo, and taking the animal in one arm could tear off a leg and eat the meat as they walked.”

“As we had no wagons with us at the time this large and heavy bone was found, we were obliged to leave it.”

Addendum 1

But as much as the commonality of UFO sightings on Mt. Graham’s telescopes intrigued [us], this was not the primary reason for our being there.  We had come [up] with deeper questions concerning high-level Vatican astronomers and what they had been leaking to and discussing with, media in recent years.  Captivating comments from Jesuit priests like Guy Consolmagno—a leading astronomer who often turns up in media as a spokesman for the Vatican who has worked at NASA and taught at Harvard and MIT and who currently splits his time between the Vatican Observatory and laboratory (Specola Vaticana) headquartered at the summer residence of the Pope in Castel Gandolfo, Italy, and Mt. Graham in Arizona.

Over the last few years, he has focused so much of his time and effort in an attempt to reconcile science and religion in public forums specifically as it relates to the subject of extraterrestrial life and its potential impact on the future of faith that we decided to contact him.  He agreed to be interviewed from Rome, and over the numerous exchanges that followed he told us some things that seemed beyond the scope.  He even sent us a copy of a private pdf, a literal goldmine of what he and the Vatican are considering regarding the ramifications of astrobiology and specifically the discovery of advanced extraterrestrials… in which he admits how contemporary societies will soon “look to The Aliens to be the Saviors of humankind.”

To illustrate the theological soundness of this possibility, Consolmago argues that humans are not the only intelligent beings God created in the universe, and, he says, these non-human lifeforms are described in the Bible.  He starts by pointing to angels then surprises us by actually referencing the Nephilim:

Other heavenly beings come up several times in the Psalms.  For example, look at the beautiful passage in Psalm 89 that calls out, “Let the heavens praise your wonders, 0 Lord, your faithfulness in the assembly of the holy ones.  For who in the skies can be compared to the Lord?  Who among the heavenly beings is like the Lord? … The heavens are yours, the earth also is yours; the world and all that is in it -you have founded them.”  Likewise, God asks Job (38:7) if any human can claim to have been around at the creation, “when the morning stars sang together and all the heavenly beings shouted for joy .”

• Are these “heavens,” “holy ones,” those “in the sky,” the “morning stars … and heavenly beings” more references to angels?  Or do they refer to some other kind of life beyond our knowledge?
• And these are not the only non-human intelligent creatures mentioned in the Bible.  There’s that odd, and mysterious, passage at the beginning of Genesis, Chapter 6, that describes the “sons of God” taking human wives.  With it is a frustratingly oblique reference to “The Nephilim …the heroes that were of old, warriors of renown.”
• Most Biblical scholars suggest that the Nephilim and the Sons of God in Genesis can be explained away as a left-over reference to the creation stories of the pagans who surrounded ancient Israel, that they were written by the kind of people whose culture saw anyone Not Of My Tribe as being unspeakably alien.  Likewise, the references to heavens and stars singing and praising the Lord can be seen simply for the beautiful poetry that it is.
• But whether you interpret these creatures as angels or aliens doesn’t really matter for the sake of our argument here.  The point is that the ancient writers of the Bible, like all ancient peoples, were perfectly happy with the possibility that other intelligent beings could exist.

Read that again, then ask yourself: Did the Vatican’s top astronomer actually mean to use the story of the Nephilim from the Bible as an example of the kind of “space saviors” man could soon look to for salvation?  This incredible assertion is only topped by what he says next.  In quoting John 10:16, which says, “And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice, and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd,” Consolmago writes: “Perhaps it’s not so far-fetched to see the Second Person of the Trinity, the Word, Who was present “In the beginning” (John 1: l), coming to lay down His life and take it up again (John 10: 18) not only as the Son of Man but also as a Child of other races?”

Do Vatican scholars believe Jesus might have been the Star-Child of an alien race?  Do Consolmagno and/or other Jesuits secretly hold that the “Virgin Birth” was in reality an abduction scenario in which Mary was impregnated by ET, giving birth to the hybrid Jesus?  As incredible as that sounds, you should prepare for the unexpected answer as this series unfolds.

All this would seem impossible theology if not for the fact that other high-ranking Vatican spokespersons—those who routinely study from the “Star Base” (as local Indians call it) on Mt. Graham—have been saying the same in recent years.

This includes Dr. Christopher Corbally, Vice Director for the Vatican Observatory Research Group on Mt. Graham until 2012, who believes our image of God will have to change if disclosure of alien life is soon revealed by scientists (including the need to evolve from the concept of an “anthropocentric” God into a “broader entity”), and the current Vatican Observatory director, Father Josè Funes who has gone equally far, suggesting that alien life not only exists in the universe and is “our brother” but will, when manifested, confirm the “true” faith of Christianity and the dominion of Rome.  (Source)

Addendum 2

Elioud: According to the timeline set in the Hebrew texts, the period when the fallen angels came down to earth and took wives for themselves to the period when the flood happened could have taken at least 500 years.  Thus, the Nephilim would have had enough time to have children of their own.  Therefore, when we talk about the abomination that led to the flood, we are not just talking about the knowledge the fallen angels taught mankind, and the Nephilim, we are talking about the integration of angel blood into the world of humanity.  A period when humans could not have been differentiated from the grandsons of angels.

Technically, the first generation of the son of angels we’re described by Enoch and the book of genesis to be giants.  However, it did not mention the second generation.  Now if we are to look at human D.N.A and how it evolves, we will see that from the first generation of giants, the second generations will probably be reduced in size, and by the fourth generation, we will be having a generation that looks exactly like humans but are descendants of angels.

These descendants are what are called Eliouds.  In Jewish lore outlined in the Book of Enoch and Book of Jubilees that was continued by groups including the religious community of Qumran that produced the Dead Sea Scrolls, the Elioud (also transliterated Eljo) are the antediluvian children of the Nephilim and are considered part-angel hybrid race of their own.  Like the Nephilim, the Elioud are exceptional in both ability and wickedness.

Although, the texts that use the term Elioud are non-canonical in modern Rabbinic Judaism, Western Christianity, and Eastern Orthodox Christianity, are considered canonical by Ethiopian Orthodox Christians and Beta Israel Jews (i.e., certain Ethiopian Jews).  The canonical Book of Genesis mentions Enoch, the putative source of this revelation about the Elioud only in passing (as a long-lived ancestor of Noah), and while it notes that Nephilim had children, it does not assign a name to them.  Another canonical Bible passage concerning a giant at Gath and his children, likely the Anakim, is sometimes alleged to refer to the Elioud (who in that account have six fingers on each hand and each foot), although, in context, these references to giants appear to refer instead to the Philistines.

Early fathers of the Christian church of the first and second centuries, as well as the bodies that formed the modern Rabbinical Jewish canon, were aware of 1 Enoch and the Book of Jubilees in which these accounts were contained and accepted the former as scripture, but by the 4th Century AD, due to a view of angels that held they could not engage in sexual intercourse, chose to omit these texts from the canon of Western Christianity and Rabbinic Judaism respectively.

Less literal readings of Genesis 6:4 see the reference in that passage to the intermarriage of “sons of God,” meaning the godly descendants of Seth or to people faithful to God generally, with “daughters of men,” meaning the godless descendants of Cain, or to people who are not faithful to God generally.  This less literal reading is the one adopted, in contrast to 1 Enoch and the Book of Jubilees, by the pseudepigraphic second part of the Book of Adam and Eve.

The language of 1 Enoch that references the race of Elioud precludes less literal readings of the term “sons of God,” for example, by enumerating the names of particular angels who choose to have children with human women.
