The Holy Place

The menorah represents the tree of life; the oil represents the Spirit of Elohim [Jesus Christ] in the believer’s life

God’s Gracious Dealings [Why]

Deuteronomy 8:1-31 All the commandments that I am commanding you today you shall be careful to do, so that you may live and increase, and go in and take possession of the land which the Lord swore to give to your forefathers. 2 And you shall remember all the way which the Lord your God has led you in the wilderness these forty years, in order to humble you, putting you to the test, to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep His commandments or not. 3 And He humbled you and let you go hungry and fed you with the manna which you did not know, nor did your fathers know, in order to make you understand that man shall not live on bread alone, but man shall live on everything that comes out of the mouth of the Lord.”

  • Matthew 24:10-1310 At that time many will be trapped into betraying and hating each other, 11 many false prophets will appear and deceive and lead many people into error. 12 And the love of the great body of people will grow cold because of the multiplied lawlessness and inequity. 13 But whoever holds out [endures] till the end will be saved [delivered].”
  • Saved [G 4982]: future tense – to deliver from the penalties of the Messianic judgment
  • Travail [H 8513] [G 3449]: weariness, tiresome, hardship as hard and difficult labor, toil, and distress.

Romans 8:14-28 14 Those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons [and daughters] of God. 15 For you [we] did not receive a spirit that makes you [us] a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship [and daughters]. And by him, we cry, “Abba [Dear], Father.” 16 The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. 17 Now if we are children, then we are heirs – heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory. 18 “I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us. 19 The creation waits in eager expectation for the sons of God to be revealed. 20 For the creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice, but by the will of the one who subjected it, in hope 21 that the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the glorious freedom of the children of God. 22 We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time. 23 Not only so, but we, who have the first fruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption as sons [daughters], the redemption of our bodies. 24 For in this hope we were saved. But hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what he already has? 25 But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently. 26 In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express. 27 And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit because the Spirit intercedes for the saints in accordance with God’s will. 28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”

Hard to Believe With the Tests, Trials, and Hardship

Kings and Priests

Proverbs 25:2It is the glory of God to conceal a thing: but the honor of kings is to search out a matter.”

  • Glory [H 3519]: Abundant riches and honor
  • Conceal [H 5641]: To be hidden, be concealed
  • Thing [H 1697]: Speech, saying, utterance, word, of words
  • Search Out [H 2713]: Penetrate, search through, literally explore for an object.

Revelation 1:6And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.”

Revelation 5:10And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.”

  • Kings [G 935]: Sons/daughters who will reign over the world with Christ in His millennial kingdom.
  • Priest [G 2409]: Cohanim – Cohen (Jewish translation).  A direct male descendant of Aaron who served in the Holy Place.  Remember Zechariah, we will come back to him when we talk about the Alter of Incense.

The Heavenly Tabernacle

Hebrews 9:11-12
9 But when Christ appeared as a high priest of the good things having come, He entered through the greater and more perfect tabernacle [Sacred Tent], not made by hands, that is, not of this creation; 12 and not through the blood of goats and calves, but through His own blood, He entered the holy place once for all time, having obtained eternal redemption.”

Hebrews 9:24-2624 For Christ did not enter a holy place made by hands, a mere copy of the true one, but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us; 25 nor was it that He would offer Himself often, as the high priest enters the Holy Place year by year with blood that is not his own. 26 Otherwise, He would have needed to suffer often since the foundation of the world, but now once at the consummation of the ages He has been revealed to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself.”

Tabernacle of Moses

The tabernacle (H 4908: Mishkan) was constructed in 1450 B.Sc. at the foot of Mount Sinai.  It took about a year to build.

Hebrew Names for the Tabernacle

  • Exodus 25:8–9 Mishkan means “tabernacle, dwelling, or habitation.”  Mishkan is from the root word shakan meaning “to dwell, abide, settle down, reside, tabernacle.”  The word shechinah derives from shakan and refers to the manifest light or presence of YHVH among his people.
  • Exodus 29:42 Ohel (as in tent of the congregation/meeting) means “a nomad’s tent, dwelling, home, habitation.”
  • Exodus 25:8 Miqdash means “sacred place, sanctuary, holy place” and is from the primitive root qadash and means “to consecrate, sanctify, prepare, dedicate, be hallowed or set apart, be separate or holy.”
  • Exodus 30:13 Kodesh or the sanctuary because it was set apart ( or kadosh) to Elohim.
  • Numbers 9:15 Ohel haeduth means “the tabernacle or tent of the testimony or witness” since it contained the ark of the covenant housing the Torah-law given to Moses, which was an abiding witness of Israel’s covenant with YHVH.
  • Numbers 10:11 Mishkan haeduth means “tabernacle of the testimony.”

The Tabernacle of God/Man in the Flesh

Jesus in the Tabernacle as the divine design and blueprint points to and reveals Jesus Christ.  He is the focal point throughout the Word of Jehovah.

John 1:14And the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.” [KJV]

John 1:14And the Word (Christ) became flesh (human, incarnate) and tabernacled (fixed His tent of flesh, lived awhile) among us; and we [actually] saw His glory (His honor, His majesty), such glory as an only begotten son receives from his father, full of grace (favor, loving-kindness) and truth.” [AMP]

The Journey

A vision of the Circuit Rider:

A rigorous journey.  As the early settlers/pioneers left the comforts of their cities, they sought the promise of a better life.  With stories of hardship and loss of life, many continued searching for their dream.

Tabernacle:

  • Outer court – Body
  • Holy Place – Soul
  • Holy of Holies – spirit/Spirit

Since first written, the Mosaic Covenant has served as the Jewish people’s primary source of moral instruction.  The covenant is comprised of 613 commandments, 365 of which are considered to be negative and 248 of which are considered to be beneficial.  The outer court symbolizes the procession from sin and judgment [bronze/brass] to redemption through the sacrifice of the lamb.  Feeding on the “milk of the word,” the laver [mirrors as a reflection of the soul] cleanses daily and leads in the process of maturing in our walk with the Lord.

Plan of Salvation

The Door or Gate

John 14:6Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

John 10:1-3, 7-91 Verily, verily, I say to you, He that enters not in by the door to the fold of the sheep, but mounts up elsewhere, is a thief and a robber; 2 but he that enters in by the door is [the] shepherd of the sheep. 3 To him the porter opens, and the sheep hear his voice, and he calls his sheep by name, and leads them out. 7 Jesus, therefore, said again to them, Verily, verily, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep. 9 I am the door, if anyone enters in by me, he shall be saved, and shall go in and shall go out and shall find pasture.”

Exodus 12:7 and 13 The Passover door – where “saving” blood applied.

Bronze Alter of sacrifice

Brass [and Iron] Represents Judgment

Deuteronomy 28:15 and 2315 But it shall come about, if you do not obey the Lord your God, to be careful to follow all His commandments and His statutes which I am commanding you today, that all these curses will come upon you and overtake you.” 23 The heaven which is over your head shall be brass, and the earth which is under you, iron.”

Bronze [brass] alter spiritually represents Yeshua dying on the tree for our sins

Numbers 21:8-98 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Make a fiery serpent, and put it on a pole; and it shall come about, that everyone who is bitten, and looks at it, will live.” 9 So Moses made a serpent of brass and put it on the pole, and it came about, that if a serpent bit someone, and he looked at the brass [bronze] serpent, he lived.”

John 3:14-1514 And just as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of Man be lifted up, 15 so that everyone who believes will have eternal life in Him.”

We discussed the brazen serpent in the wilderness

Lamb of God

John 1:29 “The next day John saw Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.”

Revelation 5:4-74 And I wept much because no man was found worthy to open and to read the book, neither to look thereon. 5 And one of the elders saith unto me, Weep not: behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, hath prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof. 6 And I beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent forth into all the earth. 7 And he came and took the book out of the right hand of him that sat upon the throne.”

Bronze Laver

Exodus 38:8 We are told how the laver and its base were made of bronze/brass/mirrors

He made the laver and its base of bronze from the mirrors of the women who ministered at the door of the Tent of Meeting.” from the mirrors of the women who ministered at the door of the Tent of Meeting.”

When we look into the water of the Word and see our reflection against the standards of the righteousness of Christ, we come up short.  Nevertheless, when Arron and the priests washed their bloody hands in the water of the laver – blood and water mingled.  Through the blood of Jesus, we measure up in the eyes of our Father and are viewed as Paul wrote:

2 Corinthians 5:21For our sake He made Christ to be sin Who knew no sin so that in and through Him we might become [endued with, viewed as being] the righteousness of God in Christ.”

The Truth: Second door or veil – “The Truth” of the Way, Truth, and Life

Moses was instructed to make a beautiful veil made of blue, purple, and scarlet yarn hung from five golden pillars for the front and entrance to the tent.  Five wooden pillars covered in gold supported by bronze bases held the curtains up.  Again, the wood-covered gold speaks of the righteousness of the saints.  Bronze speaks of Elohim’s judgment and five can speak of both the five books of the Torah, as well as the five-fold ministry, and the number for grace.

Jesus in the Tabernacle – The Holy Place

From the first steps of judgment, sacrifice, and washing of the water by the Word of God the maturing follower of Christ progressively moves into the Holy Place. The elements (furniture and accessories) are no long bronze, but Achaia (Shittim) wood covered in pure, refined gold.

The Holy Place

  • Mind – the light of the Spirit, the menorah [not the brain – CPU for the function of the human body] for knowledge and enlightenment – all leading to Jesus Christ.
  • Will – table of shewbread [TABLE (Tablet) = human heart]
  • Proverbs 3:3 Let not mercy and kindness [shutting out all hatred and selfishness] and truth [shutting out all deliberate hypocrisy or falsehood] forsake you; bind them about your neck, write them upon the tablet of your heart.
  • 2 Corinthians 3:3 “You show and make obvious that you are a letter from Christ delivered by us, not written with ink but with [the] Spirit of [the] living God, not on tablets of stone but tablets of human hearts.”
  • Emotions – intercession and worship of the saints

The Table of Shewbread

Instructed by the Holy Spirit

Exodus 25:23-3023 Make a table of acacia wood–two cubits long, a cubit wide, and a cubit and a half high. 24 Overlay it with pure gold and make a gold molding around it. 25 Also, make around it a rim, a handbreadth wide and put a gold molding on the rim. 26 Make four gold rings for the table and fasten them to the four corners, where the four legs are. 27 The rings are to be close to the rim to hold the poles used in carrying the table. 28 Make the poles of acacia wood, overlay them with gold and carry the table with them. 29 And make its plates and dishes of pure gold, as well as its pitchers and bowls for the pouring out of offerings. 30 Put the bread of the Presence on this table to be before me at all times.”

1 Chronicles 9:32Also some of their kinsmen of the Kohathites had charge of the showbread, to prepare it every Sabbath.” This bread was likely prepared on each Friday and placed in the tabernacle on each Sabbath in two piles of six. It would be replenished each week, allowing the priests to eat fresh bread in the holy place.”

Leviticus 24:5-95 And thou shalt take fine flour and bake twelve cakes thereof: two tenth deals shall be in one cake. 6 And thou shalt set them in two rows, six on a row, upon the pure table before the Lord. 7 And thou shalt put pure frankincense upon each row, that it may be on the bread for a memorial, even an offering made by fire unto the Lord. 8 Every sabbath he shall set it in order before the Lord continually, being taken from the children of Israel by an everlasting covenant. 9 And it shall be Aaron’s and his sons, and they shall eat it in the holy place: for it is most holy unto him of the offerings of the Lord made by fire by a perpetual statute.”

Acacia Wood/gold, frankincense, the wedding feast, the marriage, and the bread of life

Jesus [Yeshua]

Being made of acacia wood and overlaid with gold, this table represents the person of Christ emphasizing both His humanity and deity.

Acacia wood is often mentioned in reference to objects used in the construction of the tabernacle in the book of Exodus.  Of greatest importance is its use in the construction of the Ark of the Covenant.  From a practical standpoint, acacia trees would have been one of the only types of trees growing in the wilderness regions traveled by Israel.  In addition, acacia wood is dense and extremely strong, making it a great option for any type of wooden construction. The tabernacle was used for the next four hundred years, eventually finding a resting place within the temple in Jerusalem constructed during the reign of Solomon.

Frankincense

”Edible” is not the right word to use as a whole.  It can be chewed or taken internally but only at roughly 4 grams per day.  While it has multiple uses in herbal medicine, it is bitter to the taste, and it can cause slight stomach upset for some.

Boswellia tree extracts – the trees start producing resin at about eight to 10 years old.  Tapping is done two to three times a year with the final taps producing the best tears due to their higher aromatic terpene, sesquiterpene, and diterpene content.  Generally speaking, the more opaque resins are the best quality.  Cheap resin is produced in the Horn of Africa, which is the Roman Catholic Church’s major source.

Cancer Treatment

Immunologist Mahmoud Suhail is hoping to open a new chapter in the history of frankincense. Scientists have observed that there is some agent within frankincense which stops cancer from spreading, and induces cancerous cells to close themselves down.  He is trying to find out what this is.

  • “Cancer starts when the DNA code within the cell’s nucleus becomes corrupted,” he says. “It seems frankincense has a re-set function. It can tell the cell what the right DNA code should be. Frankincense separates the ‘brain’ of the cancerous cell – the nucleus – from the ‘body’ – the cytoplasm, and closes down the nucleus to stop it from reproducing corrupted DNA codes. Working with frankincense could revolutionize the treatment of cancer. Currently, with chemotherapy, doctors blast the area around a tumor to kill cancer, but that also kills healthy cells and weakens the patient. Treatment with frankincense could eradicate the cancerous cells alone and let the others live. The task now is to isolate the agent within frankincense which works this wonder. Some ingredients of frankincense are allergenic, so you cannot give a patient the whole thing.”

The Table: Wedding Feast – Many Are Called, But Few Are Chosen

Matthew 22:1-141 And again Jesus spoke to them in parables, saying, 2 “The kingdom of heaven may be compared to a king who gave a wedding feast for his son, 3 and sent his servants to call those who were invited to the wedding feast, but they would not come. 4 Again he sent other servants, saying, ‘Tell those who are invited, “See, I have prepared my dinner, my oxen and my fat calves have been slaughtered, and everything is ready. Come to the wedding feast.”’ 5 But they paid no attention and went off, one to his farm, another to his business, 6 while the rest seized his servants, treated them shamefully, and killed them. 7 The king was angry, and he sent his troops and destroyed those murderers and burned their city. 8 Then he said to his servants, ‘The wedding feast is ready, but those invited were not worthy. 9 Go therefore to the main roads and invite to the wedding feast as many as you find.’ 10 And those servants went out into the roads and gathered all whom they found, both bad and good. So the wedding hall was filled with guests. 11 “But when the king came in to look at the guests, he saw there a man who had no wedding garment. 12 And he said to him, ‘Friend, how did you get in here without a wedding garment?’ And he was speechless. 13 Then the king said to the attendants, ‘Bind him hand and foot and cast him into the outer darkness. In that place, there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’ 14 For many are called, but few are chosen.”

Mephibosheth

  • 2 Samuel 9:10-1110 You and your sons and your servants shall cultivate the land for him, and you shall bring in the produce so that your master’s grandson will have food to eat; nevertheless Mephibosheth, your master’s grandson, shall eat at my table regularly.” Now Ziba had fifteen sons and twenty servants. 11 Then Ziba said to the king, “according to everything that my lord the king commands his servant, so your servant will do.” So, Mephibosheth ate at David’s table as one of the king’s sons.

Marriage of the Lamb

Revelation 19:7Let’s rejoice and be glad and give the glory to Him, because the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His bride has prepared herself.” 8 It was given to her to clothe herself in fine linen, bright and clean; for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints. 9 Then he said to me, Write: ‘Blessed [to be envied] are those who are invited to the wedding feast of the Lamb.’ And he said to me [further], These are the true words (the genuine and exact declarations) of God.”

The Bread of Life

1 Corinthians 11:23-2423 For what I received from the Lord is just what I passed on to you — that the Lord Yeshua, on the night he was betrayed, took bread; 24 and after he broke it and said, “This is my body, which is for you. Do this as a memorial to me.”

John 6:31-3531 Our forefathers ate the manna in the wilderness; as the Scripture says, He gave them bread out of heaven to eat. 32 Jesus then said to them, I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, Moses did not give you the Bread from heaven [what Moses gave you was not the Bread from heaven], but it is My Father who gives you the true heavenly Bread. 33 For the Bread of God is He Who comes down out of heaven and gives life to the world. 34 Then they said to Him, Lord, give us this bread always (all the time)! 35 Jesus replied, I am the Bread of Life. He who comes to Me will never be hungry, and he who believes in and cleaves to and trusts in and relies on Me will never thirst anymore.”

Deuteronomy 8:3And He humbled you and allowed you to hunger and fed you with manna, which you did not know nor did your fathers know, that He might make you recognize and personally know that man does not live by bread only, but man lives by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of the Lord.”

With the procession through the Way and Truth, [Life – Holy of Holies] we come closer in fellowship and intimacy with God the Father and His only begotten Son – Jesus the Christ.

We also are in a metamorphosis of carnality to spirituality and as the law trained for obedience we are drawing closer to becoming a Royal Kingship and Priesthood.

The Menorah [Candle Stick]

The Golden Menorah – Holy Spirit of Jesus Christ

The menorah represents the tree of life; the oil represents the Spirit of Elohim [Jesus Christ] in the believer’s life.  It also represents Yeshua the tree or vine with believers as the branches grafted into the “trunk” of the tree or Yeshua and receiving the Spirit of life from him.  As a result of Yeshua’s Spirit in the believer’s life, [you and Luke, Kimberly, and myself] the fruits, and gifts of the Spirit of Elohim shine like a menorah on a hill into the surrounding darkness of this world.  Gold represents the pure (divine) character of Yeshua and the believer, and oil represents the Spirit of Elohim through whose work in the believer’s life that pure gold-like character is formed and refined.  Prophetically the menorah points to the Day of Pentecost or Feast of the Harvest of First Fruits (Shavuot) when the Spirit of Truth was poured out upon the true followers [Revelation – bondservants (believers)] of Jesus Christ and the Sacred Scriptures written on our hearts empowering each of us to walk in the paths of light and righteousness thereby sharing the good news or gospel with others.

Psalms 119:

  • 105Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”
  • 172Let my tongue sing praise of Your word, for all Your commandments are righteous.”

The wicks of the menorah were made from the priest’s worn-out or discarded garments.  From this, we learn that we cannot discard the work of yesterday’s ministers, for we stand on their shoulders and use what they put into us to light our path spiritually to see what is ahead for us.  What are we leaving behind us for the next generation?

Exodus 27:20 – The pure oil signifies the gifts and fruits of the Set-Apart Spirit which all believers receive from the Messiah (Yeshua HaMashiach) who is the oil-anointed One.  Jesus is the vine to which we are attached, for we are the arms and branches (John 15:1–2) and the branches are attached to the sustenance-carrying vascular system of the main trunk (as pictured by the hollow-tubed seven-branched gold menorah).  The menorah is another picture of Yeshua who is the tree of life to which we must be attached.  Only then will we be lights shining the fruits and gifts of the Spirit into the darkness of men’s lives as Yeshua commanded us to be in Matthew 5:14–16 (i.e., light ‘menorahs’ on a hill,).  That is why the symbol of the elect body of believers is the menorah.

  • Revelation 1:13, 2013 and amid the [seven] lamps [one] like [the] Son of man, clothed with a garment reaching to the feet, and girt about at the breasts with a golden girdle.” And verse 20The mystery of the seven stars which thou hast seen on my right hand, and the seven golden lamps. The seven stars are angels of the seven assemblies, and the seven lamps are seven assemblies.”

The Spirit of Elohim directed by the Torah is pictured by the olive oil and fuels the flame/fire.  On the Day of Pentecost, the believers in the upper room received the fire of JEHOVAH’s Spirit [Holy Spirit] and had his Torah law written in their hearts.

  • John 14:16-17I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may be with you forever; that is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it does not see Him or know Him, but you know Him because He abides with you and will be in you.”
  • John 14:26But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you.”
  • John 15:26When the Helper comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, which is the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify about Me.”

The Seven Spirits of the Lord

The almond tree is the first fruit tree that blossoms in the spring in Israel.  Yeshua is the firstborn among many brethren.  The seven branches of the menorah, which are a picture of Yeshua, correspond to the seven spirits of Jehovah:

  • Isaiah 11:1-51 And there shall come forth a shoot out of the stock of Jesse, and a branch out of his roots shall be fruitful; 2 and the Spirit of Jehovah [the Lord] shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and the fear of the Lord (Jehovah). 3 And his delight will be in the fear of Jehovah, and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears; 4 but with righteousness shall he judge the poor and reprove with equity the meek of the earth: and he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked. 5 And righteousness shall be the girdle of his reins, and faithfulness the girdle of his loins.”
  • Revelation 4:5And out of the throne go forth flashes of lightning, and voices, and thunders; and seven lamps of fire, burning before the throne, which are the seven Spirits of God.”

Seven Spirits of the Lord

As covered, Yeshua said He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life.

  • John 14:6Jesus said to him, “I am the [only] Way [to God] and the [real] Truth and the [real] Life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.”

The Torah (Scripture) is the truth:

  • Psalm 119:142 Your righteousness is an everlasting righteousness, and Your Torah is truth.”

The Holy Spirit is the truth:

  • John 16:13 But when He [Rosh HaKodesh], the Spirit of Truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth…”

The Holy Spirit – the Spirit that dwells in each of us is the Spirit of the Messiah.

  • Romans 8:9 But you, you do not identify with your old nature but with the Spirit provided the Spirit of God is living inside you, for anyone who doesn’t have the Spirit of the Messiah doesn’t belong to him.”
  • Ezekiel 36:27 I will put my Spirit inside you and cause you to live by my Torah, respect my rulings, and obey them.”

Manifestations of the Spirit

  • The Spirit of the Lord

Judges 6:34 So the Spirit of the Lord came [covered in Hebrew] upon Gideon, and he blew a trumpet, and the Abiezrites [descendant
of Joseph’s on Manasseh] were called together to follow him
.”

Ezekiel 11:5 Then the Spirit of the Lord fell upon me, and He said to me, “Say, ‘Thus says the Lord, “So you think, house of Israel, for I know your thoughts.”

Isaiah 61:1 The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me because the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the afflicted; He has sent me to bind up the broken hearted, to proclaim liberty to captives and freedom to prisoners.”

  • Luke 4:18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me because He anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor. He has sent Me to proclaim release to the captives, and recovery of sight to the blind, to set free those who are oppressed…”
  • The Spirit of Wisdom and Understanding

1 Chronicle 22:12 Only the Lord give you wisdom and understanding, and give you charge over Israel, so that you may keep the law of the Lord your God.”

Deuteronomy 4:5-6 5 See, I have taught you statutes and ordinances [from the Torah/Scriptures] even as Jehovah my God commanded me, that ye may do so in the land into which ye enter to possess it. 6 And ye shall keep and do them; for that will be your wisdom and your understanding before the eyes of the peoples that shall hear all these statutes, and say, verily this great nation is a wise and understanding people.”

Ephesians 1:17 “…that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, would give you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the full knowledge of him.”

Colossians 1:8-9 8 and he has told us about the love which the Spirit has given you. 9 Therefore, from the day we heard of it, we have not stopped praying for you, asking God to fill you with the knowledge of his will in all the wisdom and understanding which the Spirit gives.”

A verse, we heard often. What does it mean?

Hosea 4:6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge; for thou hast rejected knowledge, and I will reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me; seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I also will forget thy children.”
The Law – Torah/Scriptures

  • The Spirit of Counsel and Might

Job 12:13 With him is wisdom and might; he hath counsel and understanding.”

  • [Wisdom: H 2451 – skill in war, administration, shrewdness, prudence in religious affairs, and ethical conduct.]
  • [Might: H 1369 – valor, strength, bravery, and mighty deeds of God]
  • [Counsel: H 6098 – Godly advice]
  • Psalm 119:24 Also your instructions are my delight, they are my counselors.”

Proverbs 8:14-15 14 Counsel is mine, and sound wisdom. I AM intelligence and I AM strength. 15 By me kings reign, and rulers make just decrees.”

  • Isaiah 25:1 Jehovah, thou art my God: I will exalt thee; I will celebrate thy name, for thou hast done wonderful things; counsels of old [which are] faithfulness [and] truth.”
  • Jesus is faithful and He is the Truth
  • Revelation 3:14 And to the angel of the assembly in Laodicea write: These things say the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God.”

Jeremiah 18:18 And they said, Come, and let us devise devices against Jeremiah; for the Torah/Scriptures shall not perish from the priest, nor counsel from the wise, nor word from the prophet. Come and let us smite him with the tongue and let us not give heed to any of his words.”

Sara was only able to conceive with the Strength of the Spirit

  • Genesis 21:1-7 1 And Jehovah visited Sarah as he had said, and Jehovah did to Sarah as he had spoken. 2 And Sarah conceived, and bore Abraham a son in his old age, at the appointed time of which God had spoken to him. 3 And Abraham called the name of his son who was born to him, whom Sarah bore to him, Isaac. 4 And Abraham circumcised his son, Isaac, being eight days old, as God had commanded him. 5 And Abraham was a hundred years old when his son Isaac was born to him. 6 And Sarah said, God has made me laugh: all that hear will laugh with me. 7 And she said, Who would have said to Abraham, Sarah will suckle children? For I have borne [him] a son in his old age.”

Hebrews 11:11 By faith also Sarah herself received strength for [the] conception of seed, and [that] beyond a seasonable age; since she counted him faithful who promised.”

The Spirit of Knowledge

Exodus 31:3 and have filled him (Bezaleel – from verse 2) with the spirit of God, in wisdom, and understanding, and knowledge, and in every work.”

Daniel 5:12 forasmuch as an excellent spirit, and knowledge, and understanding, interpreting of dreams, and showing of hard sentences, and solving of problems, were found in the same Daniel, whom the king named Belteshazzar. Now let Daniel be called, and he will reveal the interpretation.”

  • Belteshazzar: Belshazzar was the last king of ancient Babylon and is mentioned in Daniel 5.  Belshazzar reigned for a brief time during the life of Daniel the prophet.  His name, meaning “Bel protects the king,” is a prayer to a Babylonian god; as his story shows, Bel was powerless to save this evil ruler.

1 Corinthians 12:8 For to one, by the Spirit, is given the word of wisdom; and to another the word of knowledge, according to the same Spirit.”

Ephesians 1:17 that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, would give you [the] spirit of wisdom and revelation in the full knowledge of him.”

Spirit of the Fear of the Lord

  • Fear [H 3372]: to fear, revere, be afraid, stand in awe of, be awed, honor, respect, be dreadful, cause astonishment, and inspire reverence or godly fear or awe.
  • To obey and walk in the Word of God [Torah/Scriptures]

Fear of God: the “fear of Heaven” is sometimes confused with “the fear of sin,” but quite distinct from it.  In the latter, “fear” is to be understood in the sense of apprehension of the consequences of sin but in the former in the sense of “reverence”; as such it refers to an outlook and a religious attitude that is distinct from the actual performance of the commandments.  “Fear of God” frequently occurs in the Bible, particularly concerning Abraham’s willingness to sacrifice Isaac (Genesis 22:12), and it is mentioned as that which God primarily desires of man (Deuteronomy 10:12).

The fear of God complements knowledge of the Torah.  According to one opinion, it is only through fear [reverence] of heaven that one can arrive at the true knowledge of the Torah [Scripture]: “He who possesses learning without the fear of heaven is like a treasurer who is entrusted with the inner keys but not with the outer keys.  How is he to enter?”  Another opinion is: “Woe to him who has no courtyard yet makes a gate for it,” since it is through knowledge that one attains fear of God.

  • Deuteronomy 10:12 Now, Israel, what does the Lord your God require from you, but to [fear the Lord your God, to walk in all His ways and love Him, and to serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul.”

1 Samuel 12:14 If you will fear the Lord and serve Him and listen to His voice and not rebel against the Torah of the Lord, then both you and also the king who reigns over you will follow the Lord your God.”

Job 28:28 And to man He said, behold, the fear of the Lord, which is wisdom and to depart fromevil is understanding.”

  • Psalm 111:10 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding has all those who do His commandments: His praise endures forever.”
  • Proverbs 1:7 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; Fools despise wisdom and instruction.”
  • Proverbs 9:10 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.”

We Are Empowered By The Holy Spirit (Rauch HaKodesh)

Acts 1:8
But you will receive power when the Ruach HaKodesh comes upon you to be witnesses.”

  • Power [G 1411 – Dunamis]: “ability to perform a miracle.” For the believer, power to achieve by applying the Lord’s inherent abilities. “Power through God’s ability” is needed in every scene of life to grow in sanctification and prepare for heaven (glorification).
  • Come Upon You [G 1904, G 1909, and G 5209] Luke 11:20, 21:34, John 12:35, Acts 1:8, 13:40, and James 5:1.

It is different from the word endued as read in Luke 24:49 [G 1746] To sink into (clothing), put on, clothe oneself.

Matthew 22:29Yeshua answered them, “The reason you go astray is that you are ignorant both of the Tanakh (Scriptures) [Torah initial 5 books of Moses while Tanakh refers to 24 books (of the 39)] and of the power of God.”  (Complete Jewish Bible)

Romans 1:16For I am not ashamed of the glad tidings; for it is God’s power to salvation, to everyone that believes, both to Jew first and to Greek.”

1 Corinthians 1:18 and 2418 For the word of the cross is to them that perish foolishness, but to us that are saved it is the power of God. 24 but to those that [are] called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ is the power of God and the wisdom of God.”

1 Corinthians 2:4-5and neither the delivery nor the content of my message relied on compelling words of “wisdom” but on a demonstration of the Spirit and of power, 5 so that your trust might not rest on human wisdom but God’s power.”

1 Corinthians 4:20For the Kingdom of God is not a matter of words but power.”

1 Thessalonians 1:5that the Good News we brought did not become for you a matter only of words, but also one of power, the Ruach HaKodesh [Holy Spirit] and total conviction just as you know how we lived for your sakes when we were with you.”

Our Purpose in the Holy Spirit and Power

Isaiah 61:1The Spirit of the Lord Jehovah is upon me because Jehovah hath anointed me to announce glad tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the broken-hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and opening of the prison to them that are bound.”

Casting out Demons

Matthew 12:28But if I drive out [cast out] demons by the Spirit of God, then the Kingdom of God has come upon you.”

Luke 4:36 And astonishment came upon all, and they spoke to one another, saying, What word is this? for with authority and power he commands the unclean spirits, and they come out.”

Healing

Acts 10:38 how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with great power and He went around doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil because God was with Him.”

Luke 5:17And it came to pass on one of the days, that He was teaching, and there were Pharisees and doctors of the law sitting by, who were come out of every village of Galilee and Judaea and Jerusalem; and power of the Lord was present to heal them.”

Luke 6:19And all the crowd sought to touch him, for power went out from him and healed all.”

The True Followers [Ecclesia] of Christ Today

Luke 9:1Now Jesus called together the twelve disciples [students] and gave them power and authority over all the demons and to heal diseases.”

Luke 10:19Listen carefully: I have given you authority [that you now possess] to tread [trample down] on serpents and scorpions, and [the ability to exercise authority] over all the power of the enemy (HaSatan: Satan); and nothing will [in any way] harm you.”

Signs and Wonders

Deuteronomy 6:22and Jehovah showed signs and wonders, great and grievous, upon Egypt, upon Pharaoh, and all his household, before our eyes.”

Nehemiah 9:10and didst sh0w signs and wonders upon Pharaoh, and upon all his servants, and all the people of his land; for thou knew not that they dealt proudly against them, and thou didst make thee a name, as it is this day.”

Jeremiah 32:20who hast displayed signs and wonders unto this day, in the land of Egypt and Israel and among [other] men; and hast made thee a name, as at this day.”

  • Joshua 2:9-1111 and said to the men, I know that Jehovah has given you the land, and that the dread of you has fallen on us, and that all the inhabitants of the land faint because of you. 10 For we have heard that Jehovah dried up the waters of the Red sea before you when ye came out of Egypt; and what ye did to the two kings of the Amorites that were beyond the Jordan, to Sihon and to Og, whom ye utterly destroyed. 11 We heard of it, and our heart melted, and there remained no more spirit in any man because of you; for Jehovah your God, he is God in the heavens above and on the earth beneath.”

Mark 16:20And they [disciples], going forth, preached [Good News] everywhere, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word [Scripture] by the signs following.”

Acts 2:43A sense of awe was felt by every soul and many wonders and signs (attesting miracles) were taking place through the apostles.”

Acts 4:30while You extend Your hand to heal, and signs and wonders (attesting miracles) take place through the name [and the authority and power] of Your holy Servant and Son Jesus.”

Acts 6:8 Now Stephen, full of grace (favor) and power, was doing great wonders and signs (attesting miracles) among the people.”

Acts 14:3So Paul and Barnabas stayed for a long time, speaking boldly and confidently for the Lord, who continued to testify to the word of His grace, granting that signs and wonders (attesting miracles) be done by them.”

Romans 15:19with the power of signs and wonders in the power of the Spirit. So [starting] from Jerusalem and as far away as Illyricum, I have fully preached the gospel of Christ where it had not before been preached.”

  • Located nearly 1,400 miles from Jerusalem, Illyricum was a Roman province of economic and strategic importance.  It was a large region north of Macedonia located between the Adriatic Sea and the Danube River and was known for its commercial seaports and gold mines.

Yeshua/Jesus – Holy Spirit

John 3:34For He whom God has sent speaks the words of God [proclaiming the Father’s message] for God gives the Spirit without measure [generously and boundlessly].”

Diversity of Gifts – Another Teaching

1 Corinthians 12:4-144 But there are distinctions of gifts, but the same Spirit; 5 and there are distinctions of services, and the same Lord; 6 and there are distinctions of operations, but the same God who operates all things in all. 7 But to each the manifestation of the Spirit is given for profit. 8 For to one, by the Spirit, is given the word of wisdom; and to another the word of knowledge, according to the same Spirit; 9 and to a different one faith, in the power of the same Spirit; and to another gift of healing in the power of the same Spirit; 10 and to another operation of miracles; and another prophecy; and to another discerning of spirits; and to a different one kind of tongues; and to another interpretation of tongues. 11 But all these things operate by the same Spirit, dividing to each in particular according as he pleases. 12 For even as the body is one and has many members, but all the members of the body, being many, are one body, so also is]the Christ. 13 For also in the power of one Spirit we have all been baptized into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, whether bondmen or free and have all been given to drink of one Spirit. 14 For also the body is not one member but many.”

Where We Started on the Menorah

Isaiah 11:1-51 And there shall come forth a shoot out of the stock of Jesse, and a branch out of his roots shall be fruitful; 2 and the Spirit of Jehovah [the Lord] shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and the fear of the Lord (Jehovah).
