Part 1: The Time of Jacob’s Trouble
May 23, 2022
Prologue
John 3:9-12 “Nicodemus responded and said to Him, “How can these things be?” 10 Jesus answered and said to him, “You are the teacher of Israel, and yet you do not understand these things? 11 Truly, truly, I say to you, we speak of what we know and testify of what we have seen, and you people do not accept our testimony. 12 If I told you earthly things and you do not believe, how will you believe if I tell you heavenly things?”
Jesus had just fed 5,000 [verse 13 – “This is truly the Prophet who is to come into the world.”]
John 6:52-69 “Then the Jews began to argue with one another, saying, “How can this man give us His flesh to eat?” 53 So Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in yourselves. 54 The one who eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him on the last day. 55 For My flesh is true food, and My blood is true drink. 56 The one who eats My flesh and drinks My blood remains in Me, and I in him. 57 Just as the living Father sent Me, and I live because of the Father, the one who eats Me, he also will live because of Me. 58 This is the bread that came down out of heaven, not as the fathers ate and died; the one who eats this bread will live forever.”
59 “These things He said in the synagogue as He taught in Capernaum.”
60 “So then many of His disciples, when they heard this, said, “This statement is very unpleasant [hard]; who can listen to it?” 61 But Jesus, aware that His disciples were complaining about this, said to them, “Is this offensive [shocking] to you? 62 What then if you see the Son of Man ascending to where He was before? 63 It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh provides no benefit; the words that I have spoken to you are spirit, and are life. 64 But some of you do not believe.” For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were who did not believe, and who it was who would betray [hand him over] Him. 65 And He was saying, “For this reason, I have told you that no one can come to Me unless it has been granted him from the Father.”
Peter’s Confession of Faith
66 “As a result of this many of His disciples left, and would no longer walk with Him. 67 So Jesus said to the twelve, “You do not want to leave also, do you?” 68 Simon Peter answered Him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have words of eternal life. 69 And we have already believed and have come to know that You are the Holy One of God.”
Jacob’s Trouble – Tribulation, and the Great Tribulation
Isaiah 43:1, 5-7 “1 But now, this is what the Lord says, He who is your Creator, Jacob, and He who formed you, Israel: “Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name; you are Mine! 5 Do not fear, for I am with you; I will bring your offspring from the east, and gather you from the west. 6 I will say to the north, ‘Give them up!’ And to the south, ‘Do not hold them back.’ Bring My sons from afar And My daughters from the ends of the earth, 7 Everyone who is called by My name, and whom I have created for My glory, whom I have formed, even whom I have made.”
- Everyone [H 3634] Kol – the whole, all.
Jeremiah 30:7 “Alas! for that day will be great so that none will be like it; it will be the time of Jacob’s [unequaled] trouble, but he will be saved out of it.”
- Trouble [H 6869]: straits, distress, trouble, and tribulation
Perilous Times
Matthew 24:15-22 “Therefore when you see the abomination of desolation which was spoken of through Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place 16 then those who are in Judea must flee to the mountains. 17 Whoever [the one] is on the housetop [flat living areas] must not go down to get things out of his house. 18 And whoever is in the field must not turn back to get his cloak. 19 But woe to those women who are pregnant, and to those who are nursing babies in those days! 20 Moreover, pray that when you flee, it will not be in the winter, or on a Sabbath. 21 For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not occurred since the beginning of the world until now, nor ever will again. 22 And if those days had not been cut short, no life [flesh] would have been saved; but for the sake of the elect [chosen ones] those days will be cut short.”
2 Timothy 3:1-5 “But understand this, that in the last days will come (set in) perilous times of great stress and trouble [hard to deal with and hard to bear]. 2 For people will be lovers of self and [utterly] self-centered, lovers of money and aroused by an inordinate [greedy] desire for wealth, proud and arrogant and contemptuous boasters. They will be abusive (blasphemous, scoffing), disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, and profane. 3 [They will be] without natural [human] affection (callous and inhuman), relentless (admitting of no truce or appeasement); [they will be] slanderers (false accusers, troublemakers), intemperate and loose in morals and conduct, uncontrolled and fierce, haters of good. 4 [They will be] treacherous [betrayers], rash, [and] inflated with self-conceit. [They will be] lovers of sensual pleasures and vain amusements more than and rather than lovers of God. 5 For [although] they hold a form of piety (true religion), they deny and reject and are strangers to the power of it [their conduct belies the genuineness of their profession]. Avoid [all] such people [turn away from them].”
A few Terms for Clarification
The descriptions of the Daughter of Babylon in Scripture
- Psalm 137:8 “Daughter of Babylon, you devastated [devastator] one, Blessed will be one who repays you with the retribution [requital] with which you have repaid us.”
- Isaiah 47:1 “Come down and sit in the dust, Virgin Daughter of Babylon; Sit on the ground without a throne, Daughter of the Chaldeans! For you will no longer be called tender and delicate.”
- Jeremiah 50:42 “They seize their bow and javelin; they are cruel and have no mercy. Their voice roars like the sea; And they ride on horses, drawn up like a man for the battle against you, daughter of Babylon.”
- Jeremiah 51:33 “For thus saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel; The daughter of Babylon is like a threshing-floor, it is time to thresh her: yet a little while, and the time of her harvest shall come.”
- Zechariah 2:7 “You, Zion! Escape, you who are living with the daughter of Babylon.”
She has the characteristics of ancient Babylon but is an end-time nation. Her judgment is described in detail in Isaiah, Jeremiah, and Revelation. The daughter of Babylon is described as being:
- The glory of kingdoms
- A military power
- Economically prosperous – Revelation – by your trade
- A land of pleasures, idolatry, wickedness, and witchcraft
She refuses to repent. She is destroyed during the time of Jacob’s trouble – the great tribulation (second 3 ½ years) period in the “time of harvest.” Before being destroyed, the house of Israel and the house of Judah who are living within the “Daughter of Babylon” will return to the land of Israel. Babylon means, “confusing by mixing.” There is a religious, political, and financial Babylonian system. HaSatan is the king of Babylon.
- The Hebrew [H 7854] for Satan is הסטן (hasatan). The prefix ה (ha) means “the” which identifies the noun סטן (satan) as a noun and not a proper name and should therefore be translated as “the adversary.” The Hebrew word satan means “adversary” as one who stands against another:
1 Kings 11:14 “And the LORD raised up an adversary against Solomon, Hadad the Edomite; he was of the royal house in Edom.”
At other times this name is translated as a proper name:
Job 1:6 “Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan also came among them.”
Beast [H 2423] Aramaic from H2418; an animal, beast.
[G 2226] A living being emphasizes the bestial element of an animal, brute, or beast.
- Daniel 7:3 “And four great beasts came up from the sea, diverse one from another.”
- Daniel 7:5 “And behold another beast, a second, like to a bear, and it raised itself on one side, and it had three ribs in the mouth of it between the teeth of it: and they said thus unto it, Arise, devour much flesh.”
- Daniel 7:6 “After this, I beheld, and lo another, like a leopard, which had upon the back of it four wings of a fowl; the beast had also four heads, and dominion was given to it.”
- Daniel 7:7 “After this, I saw in the night visions, and behold a fourth beast, dreadful and terrible, and strong exceedingly; and it had great iron teeth: it devoured and brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with the feet of it: and it was diverse from all the beasts that were before it, and it had ten horns.”
- Daniel 7:17 “These great beasts, which are four, are four kings, which shall arise out of the earth.”
- Daniel 7:19 “Then I would know the truth of the fourth beast, which was diverse from all the others, exceeding dreadful, whose teeth were of iron, and his nails of brass; which devoured, brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with his feet.”
- Daniel 7:23 “Thus he said, The fourth beast shall be the fourth kingdom upon earth, which shall be diverse from all kingdoms, and shall devour the whole earth, and shall tread it down, and break it in pieces.”
Hamas Chamas [H 2555/2554] Prime root – to maltreat: make bare, shake off, violate, to do violence, take away violently, and malicious.
- Hamas is a Palestinian Sunni-Islamic fundamentalist, militant, and nationalist organization. It has a social service wing, Dawah, and a military wing, the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades. It won the 2006 Palestinian legislative election and became the de facto governing authority of the Gaza Strip following the 2007 Battle of Gaza. [Wikipedia]
- Lamentations 2:6 “And he hath violently taken away his tabernacle as if it were of a garden: he hath destroyed his places of the assembly: the Lord hath caused the solemn feasts and sabbaths to be forgotten in Zion, and hath despised in the indignation of his anger the king and the priest.”
- Ezekiel 22:26 “Her priests have done violence to My Law and have profaned My holy things; they have made no distinction between the holy and the common [to profane], and they have not taught the difference between the unclean and the clean, and they have closed their eyes from My Sabbaths, and I am defiled among them.”
- Zephaniah 3:4 “Her prophets are insolent, treacherous men; Her priests have profaned the sanctuary. They have done violence against the Law.”
The Time of Jacob’s Trouble

The traditional chronology of the Bible [Torah, Prophets, Psalms, and New Testament], calculated by Archbishop James Ussher defines the Earth as being created 6,000 years ago. His famous work [Annales veteris testamenti, a prima mundi origine deducti] “Annals of the Old Testament” was deducted from the first origins of the world and was published in two volumes: one in 1650 and the other in 1654. His chronological interpretation of Biblical events won general acceptance. The publisher Thomas Guy (1644–1724) first began incorporating the Ussher chronology in his Bibles in 1675, and in 1701 the Church of England also adopted Ussher’s framework for the Authorized King James Version.
Thus, for centuries, the Ussher chronology has been the accepted, traditional timeline of the Bible, used in the famous Scofield Bible of 1917 and featuring as recently as the 1970s in many Gideon Bibles. In the 1890s, Professor Edward Hull, Director of the Geological Survey of Ireland and Professor at the Royal College of Science, Dublin, based his famous graphic Time chart History of the World upon Ussher’s chronology. Ussher’s method of calculating the date of Creation and other events narrated in the Bible began with known dates in Greek and Roman history. With verified history, he then works backward adding together the ages of the patriarchs and kings and ultimately back to Adam and Eve. His conclusion, taking account of the seasonal equinoxes (bearing in mind the ripeness of the fruit in the Garden of Eden), was that the Earth was created on the night preceding October 23, 4004 BC. Others had attempted this calculation before – dating back to the medieval English historian Bede, including the famous seventeenth-century scientists’ Johannes Kepler (1571– 1630) and Sir Isaac Newton (1643–1727) – and all identified a date very close to Ussher’s. But Ussher’s chronology was perceived to be accurate and won general acceptance. It is a testimony to Ussher’s dating that it has withstood so well the claims of geological and other scientific discoveries in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Indeed, it is still regarded as a valuable framework, even when considered in relative rather than absolute terms.

Chronological Dates to the Coming of Messiah
Traditional Jewish (house of Judah) understanding is that the Jewish Messiah (Mashiach) would come 4,000 years after the creation of Adam and Eve. In the Talmud in Sanhedrin 97:
- “The Tanna debe Eliyyahu teaches: The world is to exist six thousand years. In the first two thousand there was desolation; [i.e., no Torah. It is a tradition that Abraham was fifty-two years old when he began to convert men to the worship of the true God; from Adam until then, two thousand years elapsed] two thousand years the Torah flourished; and the next two thousand years is the Messianic era, [i.e., Messiah will come within that period] but through our many iniquities, all these years have been lost. [He should have come at the beginning of the last two thousand years; the delay is due to our sins.]”
Therefore, as recorded in the Talmud in Sanhedrin 97, there was an expectation that the Jewish Messiah (Mashiach) would come after 4,000 years. In an article in the Jewish Press newspaper (Brooklyn, New York) by Rabbi Sholom Klass entitled, The Coming of the Messiah, he explains that there was a high expectation among the Jewish people for a Jewish Messiah (Mashiach) during the first century. In his article, Rabbi Sholom Klass writes:
“The belief in a personal Messiah reached its highest tension during that period of the first century when Rome sent her despotic procurators to rule over Judea. The yoke was most oppressive, and the Jews awaited a leader whom G-d would send to articulate their latent spirit of rebellion and free them from the Roman tyranny.”
4,000 Years from the Creation of Adam to the Jewish Messiah
Next, we will examine the Biblical chronology of time to understand that the Jewish Messiah (Mashiach) Yeshua/Jesus came to the earth 4,000 years from the creation of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden (Gan Eden). This matches exactly the time when the Messiah was expected to come to the earth according to traditional Jewish expectations. The purpose of this chronology is NOT to Biblically justify EXACTLY the entire 4,000-year period of time from the creation of Adam to the coming of the Jewish Messiah (Mashiach) Yeshua/Jesus in the first century.
See Addendum for Dates:
Therefore, we can conclude that there is credible Biblical evidence to prove that the Jewish Messiah (Mashiach) Yeshua/Jesus came to the earth around 4,000 years from the creation of Adam in the Garden of Eden (Gan Eden) exactly according to the traditional Jewish (house of Judah) expectation from the Talmud Sanhedrin 97 that the Jewish Messiah (Mashiach) would come to the earth after 4,000 years at the beginning of the last 2,000-year period of time known as the days of the Messiah (Yemot Mashiach) within the 6,000 years known as the Olam Hazeh (the present world/age).
Time Clock for Jehovah – the Celestial Realm
Psalm 90:4 “For a thousand years in Your sight are but as yesterday when it is past, or as a watch in the night.”
2 Peter 3:8 “Nevertheless, do not let this one fact escape you, beloved, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years and a thousand years as one day.”
Revelation 20:2-3 “And he gripped and overpowered the dragon, that old serpent who is the devil and Satan, and [securely] bound him for a thousand years. 3 Then he hurled him into the Abyss (the bottomless pit) and closed it and sealed it above him so that he should no longer lead astray and deceive and seduce the nations until the thousand years were at an end. After that, he must be liberated for a brief time.”
Throughout Scripture the Messianic Age of Jesus Christ will be 1,000 years (a millennium):
Nothing New – History Repeats Itself
Ecclesiastes 1:9 “The thing that has been—it is what will be again, and that which has been done is that which will be done again, and there is nothing new under the sun.”
Ecclesiastes 3:11 “He has made everything beautiful in its time. He also has planted eternity in men’s hearts and minds [a divinely implanted sense of a purpose working through the ages which nothing under the sun, but God alone can satisfy], yet so that men cannot find out what God has done from the beginning to the end.”
Ecclesiastes 3:15 “That which is now already has been, and that which is to be already has been and God seeks that which has passed by [so that history repeats itself].”
End Times or Latter Days
Old Testament:
Deuteronomy 31:29 “For I know that after my death you will behave very corruptly and turn from the way which I have commanded you; and evil will confront you in the latter days, because you will do that which is evil in the sight of the Lord, provoking Him to anger with the work of your hands.”
Jeremiah 23:20 “The anger of the Lord will not turn back until He has performed and carried out the purposes of His heart; In the last days you will clearly understand it.”
Jeremiah 30:24 “The fierce anger of the Lord will not turn back Until He has performed and accomplished The intent of His heart. In the latter days, you will understand this.”
Jeremiah 49:39 “But it will come about in the last days that I will restore the fortunes of Elam, declares the Lord.”
Ezekiel 38:16 “And you will come up against My people Israel like a cloud to cover the land. It shall come about in the last days that I will bring you against My land, so that the nations may know Me when I show Myself holy through you before their eyes, Gog.”
Daniel 2:28 “However, there is a God in heaven who reveals secrets, and He has made known to King Nebuchadnezzar what will take place in the latter days [end of days]. This was your dream and the visions in your mind while on your bed.”
Daniel 10:14 “Now I have come to explain to you what will happen to your people in the latter days [end of days] because the vision pertains to the days still future.”
Micah 4:1 “And it will come about in the last days that the mountain of the house of the Lord Will be established as the chief [cornerstone] of the mountains. It will be raised above the hills, and the peoples will stream to it.”
New Testament:
Acts 2:17 “And it shall be in the last days,’ God says, that I will pour out My Spirit on all mankind; And your sons and your daughters will prophesy, And your young men will see visions, And your old men will [b]have dreams [dream with dreams].”
2 Timothy 3:1 “But realize this, that in the last days difficult times will come.”
Hebrews 1:1-2 “God, after He spoke long ago to the fathers in the prophets in many portions and many ways, 2 in these last days [end of these days] has spoken to us in His Son [in the person of a Son], whom He appointed heir of all things, through whom He also made the world [ages].”
James 5:3 “Your gold and your silver have corroded, and their corrosion will be for a testimony against you and will consume your flesh like fire. It is in the last days that you have stored up your treasure!”
2 Peter 3:1-4 “Beloved, this is now the second letter I am writing to you in which I am stirring up your sincere mind by way of a reminder, 2 to remember the words spoken beforehand by the holy prophets and the commandment of the Lord and Savior spoken by your apostles. 3 Know this first of all, that in the last day’s mockers will come with their mocking, following after their own lusts, 4 and saying, “Where is the promise of His coming? For ever since the fathers fell asleep [died], all things continue just as they were from the beginning of creation.”
2 Peter 3:8 “8 But do not let this one fact escape your notice, beloved, that with the Lord one day is like a thousand years and a thousand years like one day. 9 The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not willing for any to perish, but for all to come to repentance.”
Signs of the End of the Age of Grace
Matthew 24:3-8 “3 And as He was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, “Tell us, when will these things happen, and what will be the sign of Your coming, and the end [consummation] of the age?”
“4 And Jesus answered and said to them, “See to it that no one misleads [deceives] you. 5 For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ [Messiah],’ and they will mislead [deceive] many people. 6 And you will be hearing of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not alarmed, for those things must take place, but that is not yet the end. 7 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be famines and earthquakes in various places. 8 But all these things are merely the beginning of the sorrows [birth pains] to come.”
- Sorrows [G 5604] (4 X’s): “odin”, the pain of childbirth, birthing process of pain. Similar to birth pangs, the signs of the end times will appear with greater frequency and intensity as the end of the age draws near. As darkness increases (perilous days), we will see an increase in frequency and intensity:
- Wars
- Famine
- Earthquakes
Medicine and Pharmacy
Revelation 18:23 “And never again shall the light of a lamp shine in you, and the voice of bridegroom and bride shall never be heard in you again; for your businessmen were the great and prominent men of the earth, and by your magic spells [witchcraft] and poisonous charm all nations were led astray (seduced and deluded).” [NASB]
Revelation 18:23 “And the light of a candle shall shine no more at all in thee; and the voice of the bridegroom and the bride shall be heard no more at all in thee: for thy merchants were the great men of the earth; for by thy sorceries were all nations deceived.” [KJV]
- Sorceries [G 5331] (3 X’s) pharmakeía, far-mak-i’-ah, and pharmacy. Sorcery and Witchcraft. The use or the administering of drugs
Covert testing labs, major drug companies, compromised governmental agencies, and evil individuals are deceptively promoting drugs as the only cure for disease as they mass fortunes globally. We have seen the near destruction of society (isolation, depression, and mandates), and for the United States – overstepping the Constitution. Their purpose is to gain and maintain control of people and make populations around the world dependent on “the system.”
Travel and Knowledge
Daniel 12:4 “But you, Daniel, keep this prophecy a secret; seal up the book until the time of the end, when many will rush here and there, and knowledge will increase.”
Travel – land, air, and sea. Same with the advent of the Internet – instant news.
Jerusalem is a Burden to the World
Zechariah 12:1-3 “This message concerning the fate of Israel came from the Lord: “This message is from the Lord, who stretched out the heavens, laid the foundations of the earth, and formed the human spirit. 2 I will make Jerusalem like an intoxicating drink that makes the nearby nations stagger when they send their armies to besiege Jerusalem and Judah. 3 On that day I will make Jerusalem an immovable rock. All the nations will gather against it to try to move it, but they will only hurt themselves.”
The world diplomatic struggle over Jerusalem.
Since 1967 when the Israelis retook Jerusalem in the Six-Day War, the division of Jerusalem and ownership of the Temple Mount, in particular, have been a source of countless U.N. resolutions, diplomatic crises, and calls for war. The struggle over the “Peace Process” in the Middle East is the stated number one priority of world diplomats, and Jerusalem resides at the center of discussions about “land for peace.” With the threat of World War III casting a shadow over every decision to rebuild Jewish settlements or expand Israeli society, the City of Jerusalem is no doubt “a burden for the world.”
Shin Bet thwarts plot to murder MK, bomb Jerusalem light rail

Some 3,500 years ago the Canaanites inhabited the land that God promised to give to the offspring of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. God promised that He would give the land of Israel to the Jewish people as an eternal possession. The promise was unconditional. God confirmed it at least 55 times with an oath and stated at least 12 times that the covenant was everlasting. (Addendum 1, 170 Bible References)
God did bring the Israelites into the Promised Land forty years after the Exodus from Egypt. Israel reached the peak of her power some 500 years later under King Solomon.
What is the promised land and why is it important?
Genesis 15:18-21 “On the same day the Lord made a covenant (promise, pledge) with Abram, saying, To your descendants, I have given this land, from the river of Egypt to the great river Euphrates—the land of 19 The Kenites, the Kenizzites, the Kadmonites, 20 The Hittites, the Perizzites, the Rephaim, 21 The Amorites, the Canaanites, the Girgashites, and the Jebusites.”
- Kenites [H 7017] the tribe from which the father-in-law of Moses was a member, and which lived in the area. between southern Palestine and the mountains of Sinai.
- Knizzites [H 7074] A South Canaanitish people.
- Kadomonites [H 6935] Easterners, the name of a tribe in Palestine.
- Hittites [H 2850] The nation descended from Heth, the 2nd son of Canaan; once inhabitants of central Anatolia (modern Turkey), later in north Lebanon.
- Perizzites [H 6522] A people who inhabited southern Canaan before the conquest.
- Rephaim [H7495] Old tribe of Giants.
- Amorites [H 567] One of the peoples of East Canaan and beyond the Jordan, dispossessed by the Israelite incursion from Egypt.
- Canaanites [H 3669] The Canaanites standing for their neighbors the Ishmaelites, who conducted mercantile caravans
- Girgashites [H 1622] Descendants of Canaan and one of the nation’s living east of the sea of Galilee when the Israelites entered the promised land.
- Jebusites [H 2983] Descendants of the 3rd son of Canaan who lived in or around the site of Jebus, the early name for Jerusalem
Jehovah’s instructions to Joshua
Joshua 1:1-4 “Now it came about after the death of Moses the servant of the Lord, that the Lord spoke to Joshua the son of Nun, Moses’ servant, saying, 2 “Moses My servant is dead; so now arise, cross this Jordan, you and all these people, to the land which I am giving to them, to the sons of Israel. 3 Every place on which the sole of your footsteps, I have given it to you, just as I spoke to Moses. 4 From the wilderness and this Lebanon, even as far as the great river, the river Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and as far as the Great Sea toward the setting of the sun will be your territory.”
The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob will fulfill His eternal and unchangeable covenant with Israel while nations have “altered” the boundaries and seized the promised territory, nevertheless, the Lord shall not be mocked.
In marking time (physical realm) Jehovah teaches students of the Torah, Prophets, and New Testament the end and then back to the beginning for fulfillment (Prophecy).
- Isaiah 46:8-10 “8 Remember this, and be assured, recall it to mind, you wrongdoers. 9 Remember the former things long past, For I AM God, and there is no other; I AM God, and there is no one like Me, 10 declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times things which have not been done, Saying, ‘My plan will be established, And I will accomplish all My good pleasure.”
- Galatians 6:7 “Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a person sows, this he will also reap.
Brief History of Middle-East Peace Talks
The covenant made with Abraham (Genesis 12:3) of the blessings and curses is eternal. In every case when a nation’s leader has tried to alter the covenant of Jehovah relative to the land of Israel, and particularly Jerusalem, it has not gone well for the individual or the nation.
Regrettably, there has been a string of U.S. Presidents, Israeli leaders, the United Nations, and others who have tried (and often succeeded) to alter the boundaries and divide Jerusalem – the rightful capital of Israel.
United Nations Security Council Resolution 242, 1967
The resolution called for the “withdrawal of Israeli armed forces from territories occupied in the recent conflict,” and “respect for and acknowledgment of the sovereignty, territorial integrity and political independence of every state in the area and their right to live in peace within secure and recognized boundaries free from threats or acts of force.” The resolution is famous for the imprecision, in English, of its central phase concerning an Israeli withdrawal – it says simply “from territories.” The Israelis said this did not necessarily mean all territories, but Arab negotiators argued that it did.
Camp David Accords, 1978
There were several peace plans following the 1967 war, but nothing happened until after the 1973 Yom Kippur or October War. There followed a new mood for peace, as shown by a historic visit to Jerusalem by the Egyptian President, Anwar Sadat, in November 1977.
US President Jimmy Carter capitalized on the new mood and invited President Sadat and the Israeli Prime Minister, Menachem Begin, for talks at the presidential retreat at Camp David near Washington. The talks lasted for 12 days and resulted in two agreements.
The first was called A Framework for Peace in the Middle East. It laid down principles for peace, expanded on resolution 242, set out what it hoped was a way of resolving what it called the “Palestinian problem,” agreed that there should be a treaty between Egypt and Israel, and called for other treaties between Israel and its neighbors. The weakness of the first agreement was the section on the Palestinians. The plan aimed to set up a “self-governing authority” in the West Bank and Gaza, leading to eventual “final status” talks, but the Palestinians were not a party to the agreement.
The second accord was The Camp David framework for the peace treaty between Egypt and Israel. This followed in 1979, after an Israeli withdrawal from the Sinai. This was the first recognition of Israel as a state by a major Arab country. The talks probably stand as the most successful negotiations in the whole peace process. The treaty has lasted, and it substantially strengthened Israel’s position. However, the peace between Egypt and Israel has not been warm. President Sadat was himself later assassinated.
The Madrid Conference, 1991
This conference, co-sponsored by the US and the Soviet Union, was designed to follow up the Egypt-Israel treaty by encouraging other Arab countries to sign their agreements with Israel. Jordan, Lebanon, and Syria were invited as well as Israel and Egypt. The Palestinians were also represented, but as part of a joint delegation with Jordan and not by Yasser Arafat or other leading figures in the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), to whom the Israelis objected.
The conference eventually led to a peace treaty between Israel and Jordan in 1994, but correspondents say this probably would have happened anyway. Israeli talks with Syria and Lebanon took place after Madrid but have since stalled, complicated by border disputes and, more recently, the 2006 war between Israel and Lebanese Hezbollah militants.
The Palestinian track soon gave way to secret talks that led to the Oslo agreement.
Oslo Agreement, 1993
The Oslo negotiations tried to tackle the missing element of all previous talks – a direct agreement between Israelis and Palestinians, represented by the PLO. Its importance was that there was finally mutual recognition between Israel and the PLO.
The talks took place in secret under Norwegian auspices and the agreement was signed on the White House lawn on 13 September 1993, witnessed by President Bill Clinton. The PLO leader, Yasser Arafat, and the Israeli Prime Minister, Yitzhak Rabin, shook hands.
The Oslo Agreement stipulated that Israeli troops would withdraw in stages from the West Bank and Gaza and that a “Palestinian Interim Self-Governing Authority” would be set up for a five-year transitional period, leading to a permanent settlement based on resolutions 242 and 338.
The agreement spoke of putting “an end to decades of confrontation and conflict” and of each side recognizing “their mutual legitimate and political rights.”
Therefore, though not stated explicitly in the text, the implication was that a state of Palestine would one day be set up alongside Israel.
There was an exchange of letters in which Yasser Arafat stated: “The PLO recognizes the right of the State of Israel to exist in peace and security.” Yitzhak Rabin said: “The Government of Israel has decided to recognize the PLO as the representative of the Palestinian people.”
Hamas and other Palestinian rejectionist groups did not accept Oslo and launched suicide bomb attacks on Israelis. There was opposition within Israel from settler-led groups. Oslo was only partially implemented.
Camp David, 2000
Various attempts were made to speed up the withdrawal and self-government provisions of Oslo. Then in 2000, President Bill Clinton sought to address the final status issues – including borders, Jerusalem, and refugees – that Oslo had left aside for later negotiation.
The talks took place in July between Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak and PLO Chairman Yasser Arafat. There was no agreement. However, the negotiations were more detailed than ever before. Correspondents say the basic problem was that the maximum Israel offered was less than the minimum the Palestinians could accept.
Israel offered the Gaza Strip, a large part of the West Bank, plus extra land from the Negev desert while keeping major settlement blocks and most of East Jerusalem. It proposed Islamic guardianship of key sites in the Old City of Jerusalem and contributions to a fund for Palestinian refugees.
The Palestinians wanted to start with a reversion to the lines of 1967, offered the Israelis rights over the Jewish quarter of the Old City, and wanted recognition of the “right of return” of Palestinian refugees.
The failure at Camp David was followed by a renewal of the Palestinian uprising or intifada.
Taba, 2001
Although he was about to leave office, Bill Clinton refused to give up and presented a “bridging proposal” which set up further talks in Washington and Cairo and then Taba in Egypt. These talks were not at the top level, but differences were narrowed without being overcome. There was more flexibility on territory, and it was reported by EU observers that Israeli negotiators accepted the concept of East Jerusalem being the capital of a Palestinian state.
A statement afterward said that “it proved impossible to reach understandings on all issues.” The Israeli Prime Minister, Ehud Barak, fighting an election campaign, said that “nothing is agreed upon until everything is agreed upon.” He said that he could not commit a subsequent government to what he called the “ideas” coming out of the talks. With the election of Ariel Sharon in February 2001, time ran out.
Arab Peace Initiative, 2002
The building of Jewish settlements on occupied land is a key issue in the talks. After the failure of bilateral talks and the resumption of conflict, the Saudi peace plan presented at an Arab summit in Beirut in March 2002 went back to a multi-lateral approach and in particular, signaled a desire by the Arab world as a whole to put an end to this dispute.
Under the plan, called the Arab Peace Initiative, Israel would withdraw to the lines of June 1967, a Palestinian state would be set up in the West Bank and Gaza and there would be a “just solution” to the refugee issue. In return, Arab countries would recognize Israel. The plan was re-endorsed by another Arab summit in Riyadh in 2007.
Its strength is the support given by Arab countries to a two-state solution. Its weakness is that the parties have to negotiate the same issues on which they have failed so far.
Roadmap, 2003
The roadmap is a plan drawn up by the “Quartet” – the United States, Russia, the European Union, and the United Nations. It does not lay down the details of a final settlement but suggests how a settlement might be approached. It followed efforts made by US Senator George Mitchell to get the peace process back on track in 2001.
The plan was preceded by an important statement in June 2002 by President George W Bush who became the first US president to call for a Palestinian state. It proposed a phased timetable, putting the establishment of security before a final settlement. It is designed to create confidence, leading to final status talks.
- Phase 1: Both sides would issue statements supporting the two-state solution, the Palestinians would end violence, act against “all those engaged in terror,” draw up a constitution, hold elections and the Israelis would stop settlement activities and act with military restraint
- Phase 2: Would see the creation, at an international conference, of a Palestinian state with “provisional borders”
- Phase 3: Final agreement talks
The road map has not been implemented. Its timetable called for the final agreement to be reached in 2005. It has largely been overtaken by events but remains a reference point for negotiations.
Geneva Accord, 2003
While official efforts foundered, an informal agreement was announced in December 2003 by Israeli and Palestinian figures – Yossi Beilin, one of the architects of Oslo, on the Israeli side, and former Palestinian Information Minister Yasser Abed Rabbo on the other.
The Geneva Accord reverses the concept of the roadmap, in which the growth of security and confidence precedes a political agreement, and puts the agreement first, which is then designed to produce security and peace.
Its main compromise is that the Palestinians effectively give up their “right of return” in exchange for almost the whole of the West Bank, though there could be a token return by a few. Israel would give up some major settlements such as Ariel, but keep others closer to the border, with swaps of land in Israel for any taken in the West Bank. Palestinians would have the right to have their capital in East Jerusalem, though with Israeli sovereignty over the Western Wall in the Old City.
Another unofficial agreement was one drawn up by a former head of the Israeli Shin Bet internal security service, Ami Ayalon, and a former PLO representative in Jerusalem, Sari Nusseibeh. This envisaged a return to the 1967 lines, an open city of Jerusalem, and an end to the Palestinian claim to a right of return to former homes.
Annapolis, 2007
Late in his second presidential term, US President George W Bush hosted a conference at the US Naval Academy at Annapolis, Maryland aimed at relaunching the peace process.
Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas took part in talks along with officials from the peace-making Quartet and more than a dozen Arab countries, including Saudi Arabia and Syria. This was seen as significant as they do not officially recognize Israel.
However, the Palestinian group Hamas, which had won parliamentary elections and taken control of the Gaza Strip, was not represented. It declared it would not be bound by anything decided.
A joint understanding was issued by the Israeli and Palestinian leaders to engage in negotiations with the goal of a full peace deal by the end of 2008. They agreed that implementation would wait until confidence-building measures outlined in the “Roadmap” had been met.
Regular meetings took place between Mr. Olmert and Mr. Abbas, during which their teams exchanged maps of possible border solutions but failed to reach an agreement. Mr. Olmert said his offer was the most generous ever made to the Palestinians – international supervision of Jerusalem’s holy sites, the symbolic return of a few thousand Palestinian refugees, and reportedly Israeli withdrawal from 93.7% of the West Bank, plus the equivalent of 5.8% of its area from Israel in a land swap. Mr. Abbas’s team said it produced a map that offered to let the Israelis keep 1.9% of the West Bank in exchange for land in Israel.
The talks came to an abrupt halt with Israel’s military offensive in Gaza in December 2008. This coincided roughly with the end of Mr. Olmert’s time in office and his replacement by Benjamin Netanyahu, who took several months even to back publicly the concept of a Palestinian state.
Washington, 2010
After taking office, US President Barack Obama was quick to try to restart the peace process. Contact between Israel and the Palestinians resumed in May 2009, after a hiatus of 19 months, in the form of indirect “proximity talks” through US Middle East envoy George Mitchell.
In November 2009, Mr. Obama persuaded Mr. Netanyahu to agree to a 10-month partial freeze on settlement construction in the West Bank, which the Israeli leader hailed as “the first meaningful step towards peace.” But Mr. Abbas said it did not cover East Jerusalem and that he wanted a guarantee of a Palestinian state based on 1967 lines.
After months of hard diplomacy, US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton announced that Mr. Netanyahu and Mr. Abbas had agreed to “re-launch direct negotiations to resolve all final status issues” and that they believed the talks could “be completed within one year.”
The talks, also attended by President Hosni Mubarak of Egypt and King Abdullah of Jordan, began in Washington on 2 September 2010. Expectations were low and the deadlock was reached within weeks.
The Israeli and Palestinian leaders met just once more, at Sharm el-Sheikh, before Israel’s settlement construction freeze expired on 26 September and the talks were suspended. US negotiators subsequently failed to persuade Mr. Netanyahu’s coalition government to renew the moratorium, or to convince Mr. Abbas to resume negotiations without an end to all settlement activities on occupied territory.

Tom Cohen: CNN
Washington (CNN) — President Barack Obama on Thursday made official the long-held but rarely stated U.S. support for a future Palestinian state based on borders that existed before the 1967 Middle East war.
In the past, the United States has unofficially backed a two-state solution to the Israel-Palestinian conflict based on the borders in place prior to the war 44 years ago in which Israel seized the West Bank, Gaza Strip, Golan Heights, and the Sinai Peninsula.
In a major speech Thursday, Obama became the first president to formally endorse the policy, but he also acknowledged the need for modifications through the negotiating process due to conditions on the ground.
“The United States believes that negotiations should result in two states, with permanent Palestinian borders with Israel, Jordan, and Egypt, and permanent Israeli borders with Palestine,” Obama said in the concluding section of his 45-minute address that looked at political and social change sweeping across the Middle East and North Africa.
“We believe the borders of Israel and Palestine should be based on the 1967 lines with mutually agreed swaps, so that secure and recognized borders are established for both states,” Obama continued.

The Middle East has been a region of political and religious tension for decades. The longest reigning issue has been that of the battle between Israel and Palestine overland. Israel was created in 1948 and ever since the demand for a physical territory to be given to the Palestinian people has been high.
Thursday, President Barack Obama expressed his views on the matter.
Obama said that there should be a physical Palestinian state. The new state would be located based on the Middle Eastern borders that were around before the 1967 Middle East War.
In that war, Israel gained control of the Gaza Strip, Golan Heights, the Sinai Peninsula, and the West Bank. The United States has always suggested that the best way to settle the dispute between Israel and Palestine would be to create two separate states. Obama is backing the plan to give Palestine control over the four regions to give them their own sizeable land.
Obama officially stated, “The United States believes that negotiations should result in two states, with permanent Palestinian borders with Israel, Jordan, and Egypt, and permanent Israeli borders with Palestine. We believe the borders of Israel and Palestine should be based on the 1967 lines with mutually agreed swaps, so that secure and recognized borders are established for both states.”
The American government and President Obama are still adamant about peace talks continuing. There is still a demand to stop Israeli settlements in the West Bank. There is still a demand for the removal of Hamas from being at the helm of Palestinian officials. And there is still a demand to make sure that Israel is safe in the region where religiously, they are the minority.
Obama made it clear that all terms must be met. This is not a matter of simply giving Palestine its own state. The issue of peacefully settling the conflicts between the two states is high on the priority list. Obama stated, “Provisions must also be robust enough to prevent a resurgence of terrorism, to stop the infiltration of weapons, and to provide effective border security.”
Essentially, the overall goal here is to give the Palestinian people the state that they have been working towards for half of a century and to give the Israeli people the peace and safety that they have been striving for since they first became a state in 1948 in the years after World War II.
Ignorance of Jihad or Religious Wars
The sages that have crafted this monstrosity have forgotten about Persia (Iran) or at least the Supreme Leader and Mullahs in Qom and Tehran. From the Qur’an and the Shias, there is the scripture that cannot be avoided when dealing in the Middle East – with either Shia or Sunnis followers.
Quoting Sura 2:218 from the Qur’an; “Surely those who believe, those who wage jihad in God’s cause are the ones who may hope for the mercy of God.” Jews and Christians are the ones whom God has cursed, they “shall either be executed, or crucified, or have their hands and feet cut off alternately, or be banished from the land.”
Quoting Sura 9:5 “Whenever you may come upon them, and seize them, and confine them, and lie in wait for them at every conceivable place.” Infidels (those not practicing Islam) according to Sura 22, will spend eternity in a blazing fire, “with boiling water being poured down over their heads. All that is within their bodies, as well as their skins, will be melted away.” Further, “Have nothing to do with them, do not befriend them. Do not negotiate with them. Do not do business with them.”
Sura 5:59-60, “Allah has cursed the Christians and the Jews, and those whom he has utterly condemned he has already turned into apes, and swine, and servants of powers of evil.”
While many compromising and politically correct clergy and politicians placate and tell the American people that Islam is a peaceful religion, they ignore the realities of centuries of bloodshed. Are there good, law-abiding Muslims – absolutely. Are there fanatics that take the Holy Word of their Qur’an literally – absolutely. And as I have pointed out before, this tribal infighting in the Middle East has existed since Isaac and Ishmael followed by Jacob and Esau. There is no young, exceptionally talented real estate businessman that will be able to equitable settle this family feud in the Middle East with compromise (land), blackmail (withhold military funding from Israel), bribery (billions have been wasted and lined the pockets of corrupt leaders in the PA and terrorist organizations like Hamas) and empty promises of building a utopian state for the Palestinians. Move them to Jordan, Israel is already a sovereign nation recognized by the United Nations.
Trump Accomplishments
On December 6, 2017, President Donald Trump announced that the U.S. would recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and ordered the planning of the relocation of Israel’s U.S. Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu welcomed the decision and praised the announcement. On December 8, U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson clarified that Trump’s statement “did not indicate any final status for Jerusalem” and “was very clear that the final status, including the borders, would be left to the two parties to negotiate and decide.”
Trump’s decision was rejected by a majority of world leaders; the UN Security Council held an emergency meeting on December 7, where 14 out of 15 members condemned it, but the motion was vetoed by the U.S. Britain, France, Japan, Italy, and Sweden were among the countries who criticized Trump’s decision at the meeting. The European Union’s foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini said that all governments of EU member states were united on the issue of Jerusalem, and also reaffirmed their commitment to a Palestinian State with East Jerusalem as its capital.
Palestinian officials said that the announcement disqualifies the U.S. from peace talks, while Hamas called for a new intifada [following Trump’s declaration]. Following the announcement, there were demonstrations throughout the West Bank and Gaza Strip, as well as in various countries around the world.
- Intifada: rebellion, uprising, or resistance. A protracted grassroots campaign of protest and sometimes violent resistance against perceived oppression or military occupation, especially either of two uprisings among Palestinian Arabs in the Gaza Strip and West Bank, the first beginning in 1987 and the second in 2000, in protest against Israeli occupation of these territories. [Wikipedia]
On February 23, 2018, the U.S. State Department announced that the new embassy would open in May that year. The embassy was officially opened in Jerusalem on May 14, 2018, coinciding with the 70th anniversary of the Israeli Declaration of Independence.
On 25 March 2019, President of the United States Donald Trump proclaimed the recognition by the United States of the Golan Heights as part of the State of Israel, making the United States the first country to recognize Israeli rather than Syrian sovereignty over the Golan Heights. The 28 member states of the European Union declared in turn that they do not recognize Israeli sovereignty, and several experts on international law reiterated that the principle remains that land gained by either defensive or offensive wars cannot be legally annexed under international law.
In the Bible, Golan is mentioned as a city of refuge located in Bashan: Deuteronomy 4:43, Joshua 20:8, 1 Chronicle 6:71. 19th-century authors interpreted the word Golan (Hebrew: גולן) as meaning “something surrounded, hence a district”.
Trump Peace Accord: Jared Kushner and Jason Greenblatt
Spearheaded by Jared Kushner, at the time he was 38 years old and the son-in-law of President Trump. The United States is perilously moving towards disaster with the Trump Israeli Peace Plan.
While not publicly revealed, some details have been shared with some of the surrounding Arab Nations. As reported:
- Certain northern sections of the current Jerusalem municipal boundaries, captured by Israel in the 1967 war, but where an Arab village and refugee camp are located, would be transferred to a Palestinian state, along with Arab neighborhoods in southern Jerusalem captured in the same war.
- At least at the first stage of implementation, Israel would maintain “broad security powers” in the areas handed over to the Palestinians adding that 85% of Judea and Samaria would be included in the Palestinian state, as well.
- In its plan, the U.S. administration distinguishes between the areas of “former Jordanian Jerusalem” before the ’67 war which includes the Old City and adjacent neighborhoods, and a far larger swath of territory which Israel annexed into its capital after the war, but which had not been included within the municipal lines before that point.
- The Old City and adjacent areas, including the Mount of Olives, would remain under Israeli sovereignty. However, some of the outlying Arab neighborhoods, which became part of Jerusalem only after the ’67 conflict, would be included in the Palestinian state.
- The Western Wall would remain under exclusive Israeli control.
- Regarding the Temple Mount, the Americans wished to consider the establishment of a joint inter-Arab religious administration which would include other states, in addition to Jordan which currently serves as patron of the Muslim holy sites. This administration would work in tandem with Israel, according to the reported plan, and the area would remain under Israeli sovereignty.
Blackmail and Hamas will lay down their weapons
Deal Sponsors
According to the leak, the United States, European Union, and Gulf states would fund and sponsor the deal for five years to establish the state of “New Palestine.”
This would come with a price tag of $6 billion a year ($30 billion over a five-year period); the majority of which 70 percent would be paid by the Gulf States with the United States contributing 20 percent ($6 billion) and the European Union 10 percent ($3 billion).
- “New Palestine” would not be allowed to form an army but could maintain a police force. Instead, a defense agreement will be signed between Israel and the “New Palestine” in which Israel would defend the new state (Palestine) from any foreign attacks.
- Upon signing the agreement, Hamas will hand over all its weapons to Egypt.
- The movement’s leaders would be compensated and paid salaries by Arab states while a government is established.
- Elections are expected to be held within one year of the establishment of the “New Palestine” state.
- All borders between the Gaza Strip and Egypt and Israel would remain open to people and goods and Palestinians would be able to use Israeli air and seaports.
- “New Palestine” will have two crossings into Jordan which will be under the control of authority in the “New Palestine.”
- The Jordan Valley will remain in Israel’s hands and a four-lane toll road will be built through it.
Consequences:
- If Hamas or any Palestinian bodies refuse this deal, the United States will cancel all of its financial support to the Palestinians and pressure other countries to do the same.
- If, on the other hand, Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas signs the deal, but Hamas and Islamic Jihad do not agree to it, a war would be waged on the Gaza Strip with the full backing of the United States.
- However, if Israel refuses the deal the US would cease its financial support. The United States currently pays $3.8 billion a year to support Israel.
Addendum 1
Disregarding the growing opposition and demonstrations of Shiite nations, to bolster faltering support for their peace plan, Mr. Kushner and his team stopped in Morocco where they met with King Mohammed VI and other high-ranking dignitaries. The President’s envoys then went to Jordan to meet with King Abdullah II. Following their meeting with the King, Mr. Greenblatt enthusiastically tweeted, “Constructive meeting with King Abdullah II in Jordan today including a good conversation about regional dynamics and our administration’s effort to help Israel and the Palestinians achieve a brighter future.”
Perhaps the “War Council” missed something from the private meeting, which is understandable, but King Abdullah was quoted as insisting, “…on the need to intensify efforts to achieve a comprehensive and lasting peace based on the two-state solution that would guarantee the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.” While Jordan, a key U.S. ally, has not committed to attending the conference in Bahrain, Mr. Kushner has stated, “The conference will not include core political issues, such as Palestinian statehood.”
In typical political parlance, Mr. Kushner has signaled that the White House may be pulling back from America’s previous support for a two-state solution. Earlier this month, quoting Kushner, “If you say ‘two-state,’ it means one thing to the Israelis; it means one thing to the Palestinians. We said, ‘you know, let us just not say it. Let us just say, let us work on the details of what this means.’” With the strong denunciation by the Palestinian Authority and the terrorist group Hamas, Mr. Kushner has billed the economic workshop as, “a pivotal opportunity… to share ideas, discuss strategies and galvanize support for potential economic investments and initiatives that could be made possible by a peace agreement.” In the past, and certainly praying this is not true with President Trump, these investments and initiatives usually leave the American taxpayer footing the bill for billions of dollars.
Amazing, but not startling, Democrats have continually criticized President Trump for acknowledging Jerusalem as the official capital of Israel, moving the U.S. Embassy to Jerusalem, recognizing Israel’s sovereignty over the Golan Heights, and cutting the majority of U.S. aid to the Palestinians. Getting to the heart of why they despise the President, according to Democrats, these moves “endanger” a two-state solution for the Palestinians. Lest we forget, there is no need for a two-state solution as Israel is already a sovereign nation as of May 14, 1948.
Only five Republicans backed the measure in the 226-183 vote, although eleven GOP lawmakers joined a bipartisan amendment reaffirming U.S. commitments to providing military aid to Israel that was added. On a side note, “The Squad,” comprised of Socialists and Muslims, also voted against the resolution because it included the aid to Israel which they vehemently oppose.
Finally, at the end, who ultimately wants to “divide the land” as described in Joel 3:2 – is it not the same that said he will be “like the most high” – Satan. Elohim has only one sovereign nation that He made by covenant, the “promised land” made with Abraham and his descendants. See Part 1 for a current map of what Israel possesses today and what was promised.
Again, this “deal of the Century” is not about what is right, and it is diametrically in opposition to the “covenant” Jehovah made with Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and their descendants (Genesis 12:3). Like all political masquerading and parlance, this “deal” is simply about ego and some misguided conception of achieving a great historic legacy. Besides being rooted in naivety, the “the Kushner Plan” is an invitation to undo the exceptional leadership shown by President Trump in acknowledging Jerusalem as the rightful capital of Jerusalem and thereafter relocating the U.S. Embassy to Jerusalem. Not only suggesting such an outlandish deal, but the potential of implementation will bring the promised curse on the President and the United States of America.
In the course of publishing ten previous position papers including two viable alternatives for the Palestinians, the National War Council has based our opposition on the Holy Word of Jehovah in the Torah and always keeping what is best for the sovereign nation of Israel at the forefront.
Europe
The continent of Europe takes its name from the Greek mythological figure of Europa. Europa was said to be Phoenician and was the daughter of the king of Tyre.
The name, Europa, has linguistic connections to “white-faced heifer,” and there are various explanations for the association between the woman and the meaning of her name.
In the mythological story, Zeus worked up a passion for Europa, and Zeus was not one to ignore his passions. Changing himself into the form of a bull, he mixed with the herd of Europa’s father. Europa was drawn to the handsome bull.
After caressing him, she climbed aboard for a ride, in the process getting more of a ride than she bargained for. Zeus promptly dashed into the sea with the maiden aboard and swam to the island of Crete. Once on the island, he revealed himself in his true form. Following the consummation of Zeus’s desires, he made Europa the queen of Crete, and her son by him, Minos, became the first king of Crete.
- On Feb. 15, 1905, Crete issued a 1-drachma stamp (Scott 80), shown nearby, with a design based on the Cortyna coin. The design of the coin depicts the abduction of Europa by Zeus.
- On Sept. 21, 1908, after the Cretan Assembly voted for union with Greece, remaining stocks of the engraved stamp perforated gauge 14 were overprinted “Hellas” (Greece) in Greek letters (Scott 92).
- On Nov. 15, 1974, Greece commemorated Stamp Day with a 2.50-drachma stamp-on-stamp issue (Scott 1119) that incorporated the earlier Cretan stamp design. The stamp, shown in the second picture, was printed by lithography and perforated gauge 13½ by 13.
- The Greek geographer Strabo may have been the first to give the name Europa to the continent.
- By the ninth century A.D., cartographers were using Europa as the name for Charlemagne’s Carolingian Empire. The empire occupied much of western and central Europe, and Europa gradually came to be applied to the entire continent.
- On Aug. 20, 1979, Poland issued a 10-zloty one-stamp souvenir sheet (Scott 2352) for the Europhil 79 international philatelic exhibition. The stamp design was based on the painting The Rape of Europa by Bernardo Strozzi.
The print run for the souvenir sheet, shown here, was 1.57 million. The souvenir sheet, printed by the photogravure process, was perforated gauge 11 by 11½ around the stamp design.
The painting used in the stamp design symbolized the pan-European nature of the exhibition. Logos and symbols of various European stamp exhibitions are shown in the selvage around the stamp.
- On May 22, 2003, Slovenia used another painting of Europa and the bull on its 180-tolar stamp (Scott 526) commemorating the European Water Polo Championships. The stamp, shown nearby, was printed by lithography and perforated gauge 14.
The competition, sponsored by the Ligue Europeenne de Natation, was held at the aquatic center in Kranj, Slovenia, June 6-15, 2003. The team from Serbia and Montenegro took the gold in the final match against the Croatian team. The victory was marred by riots and fighting between Serbian and Croatian fans.
Since the establishment of the European Union, Europa and the bull has frequently been used as a symbol of that supranational grouping. Two Europe Days are observed annually in member nations and nations hoping to gain membership.
The first, held on May 5, commemorates the Council of Europe, founded on May 5, 1949. The second, held on May 9, commemorates the European Union and marks the anniversary of the Schuman Declaration on May 9, 1950.
On May 9, 1950, date, French Foreign Minister Robert Schuman proclaimed the union of French and German coal and steel production, the forerunner of the Common Market and the European Union. Both days are meant to honor peace and unity in Europe.
In 2001, Slovenia issued a 221t Europa and the Bull stamp (Scott 455) to commemorate Europe Day. The question of which Europe day was being commemorated was avoided by issuing the stamp on March 21 of that year. The stamp, illustrated here, was printed by lithography and perforated gauge 14.
In 2001, Romania assumed the presidency of the Organization of Security and Cooperation in Europe. To commemorate that event, on July 6, 2001, Romania issued a 11,500-lei Europa and the Bull stamp.
Regardless of the future of the European Union, cracks which recently showed in the British vote to leave it, Europa and the bull will likely continue to symbolize the European continent as it has for more than two millennia.

Twelve Signs of the End Times
Here is a summary of twelve trends or signs of the end times. We can see that events are coming together for things to wrap up soon.
- 1: Earthquakes: “And there will be great earthquakes in various places …” (Luke 21:11). There are 12,000 to 14,000 earthquakes per year or about 35 per day. More and more often we see earthquakes of disastrous magnitudes that cause great loss of life and misery to affected people. See list of major earthquakes since 2001. Many people label these as “Acts of God” without realizing that it is God’s character to seek to protect His children from Satan, who is the destroyer, and from the forces of nature. Earthquakes are one of the best known of the signs of the end times.
- Environmental Crisis: In the final events of earth’s history, a moment comes when “… them that destroy the earth” (Rev 11:18) are themselves destroyed. This implies that there will be people held responsible for their part in destroying the earth. While we have to live here and use some of its resources we should be doing that responsibly. However, there are people who are doing things (and knowing better) that are destroying the earth for their own financial gain or other purposes. We are, even now, experiencing environmental degradation from these actions as one of the signs of the end times.
- Wars: “You will hear of wars and rumors of wars … For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom” (Matt 24:6-7). In the last 100 years, there has been World War I, World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnamese War, the Arab-Israeli Wars, the war in Bosnia, the Gulf War, Kosovo, Ireland, wars in the Congo, Rwanda, Somalia and the Sudan and other places in Africa, wars in Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan etc. Surely this is one of the prominent signs of the end times “When they say, ‘Peace and safety!’ Then sudden destruction comes upon them … and they shall not escape.” (1 Thess 5:3) This verse suggests that the only thing that will end war in the world will be the end of the world.
- Violence: “As it was in the days of Noah, so shall it be before the coming of the Son of Man” (Matt 24:37). One of the major aspects of what was it like in Noah’s day was that: “The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence” (Gen 6:11). Evidently, violence was everywhere before the flood, as it is today. Surely, this is a result, in part of people including violence in their entertainment in TV, the movies etc., by beholding we are changed.
- Pleasure-seeking “But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power …” (2 Tim 3:1-5). As we look at society we see this fulfilled in many areas that we are, perhaps, all too familiar with. For many people, this is one of the signs of the end times that they are so involved in that they can’t discern any of the others.
- Financial woes: “Your gold and silver is cankered; and the rust of them shall be a witness against you, and shall eat your flesh as it were fire. Ye have heaped treasure together for the last days” (Jam 5:3). We have seen more and more problems in the economy and these problems are the result of the greed of men who are looking out for no one other than themselves. Expect more and more troubles in the markets and wild fluctuations in reaction to world events.
- Disease and Stress “… distress of nations, with perplexity … men’s hearts failing them for fear …” (Luke 21:25-6). People are stressed-out everywhere, are much to busy and are not taking responsibility for their own health. Heart disease (the number one cause of death) and other chronic disease are rampant. Pain (see my other website: www.natural-pain-relief-guide.com) and suffering in so many forms are everywhere. Mostly, these problems are a result of our own poor choices. If Satan can keep us so Busy Under Satan’s Yoke that we can’t see the signs of the end times, then he has got us.
- Medicine/pharmacy: “… for by thy (speaking of Babylon) sorceries were all nations deceived” (Rev 18:23). The word “sorceries”is translated from the Greek work “pharmakeia” from which we get the word English word “pharmacy.” There are major drug companies (with government involvement) who are promoting drugs as the only cure of disease, even fighting against God-given, natural, simple remedies and making enormous sums of money doing it. This has the effect of controlling people and making them dependent on “the system.” This is perhaps one of the least known of the signs of the end times but it is an important tactic of the enemy as he seeks to so weaken our physical and mental powers that our will to resist will be defeated.
- Knowledge: “But you, O Daniel, shut up the words and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased” (Dan 12:4). Knowledge is now said to double every few years. As we look at the world of technology and the amount of information that is available to anyone via the internet, we can see that this surely is true. The question is what are we doing with it and are we bothering with knowledge in the most important areas that will influence our eternal destiny? Along with all the other increased knowledge, is there an increase of knowledge of the signs of the end times?
- False Religious Teaching: “For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables” (2Tim 4:3-4). Revelation predicts a world-wide religious system called “Babylon,” which means “confusion.” Babylon, near the end, falls “… because she made all nations drink of the wine (false doctrine) of the wrath of her fornication” (Rev 14:8). Also, false Christs will abound: “Many shall come in My name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many” (Matt 24:5). It makes sense that some of these religious teacher’s would also teach false signs of the end times.
- The Mark of the Beast: “And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name” (Rev 13:16-7). We can see the beginning of this now as the whole world is being amalgamated into one system of finances, there is more talk of one-world government, a new world order etc. The world is shrinking, people are expected more and more to conform to the norm, to go along with the system. Fashion and entertainment and so many areas of culture dictate what is expected. We are being groomed to take the Mark of the Beast in opposition to the Seal of God.
- Preaching of the Good News: “And this gospel shall be preached in all the world as a witness to all nations, and then shall the end come” (Matt 24:14). With all of our modern means of communication and, lately, the internet, availability of the message of salvation and the truth about God’s character is rapidly spreading across planet Earth. The question is: will people leave the pleasures and business of their lives long enough to pay attention to it?
So there are twelve signs of the end times with a little detail of each. Links will be added as pages are built for each of these signs. Rather than being scary, signs of the end times should encourage us.
“Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near” (Luke 21:28)
